One of my friends is anorexic (we are getting her help) but I have watched her and another friend-we will call him Bob- go at it lately. Well when the anorexic friend told us about her problems Bob went crazy and yelled at her.

Well she kept tell him to stop being so rude about it. He then said something like this (i wasnt there so i dont know word for word) "You hurting yourself hurts me- but if you want to kill yourself not eating, be my guest"

She was really upset and they didnt talk for a few days. Well now they are talking but everytime she brings up food or eating he changes the subject....

How do I make them friends again because she won't try to help herself if he isnt involved? HELP HELP!!!

sorry if thats confusing

Unfortunately, the friendship between your friend and Bob may not be a healthy one. Bob sounds controlling, and your friend needs positive support.

Do what you can to surround your friend with loving, supportive friends, who are able to deal with her issue of anorexia. She needs friends who can talk about it when she needs to: That's what friends do. Your friend is lucky to have you . . .

Best of luck . . .

You should talk to Bob. Tell him that she needs support from him to get better. You need to try to get him to understand that he is an important part to helping her. I know this isn't really nice but try to make him feel a lil guilty. Tell him she could die if you do not help her, or something like that. (Or tell him that she needs him more than ever right now.) If i was u i would say this one. Also if you do get their friendship fixed try to get him to convince her to check into rehab.

If your friend has anorexia, she needs professional help, not just a bunch of friends, although friends can be helpful IN ADDITION, not instead of. Also, she needs to learn to help herself no matter whether other people are involved. Bob sounds like he genuinely cares and is frustrated - it's hard to watch someone doing something that might be fatal. However, all of you desperately need to see that she gets professional help, not just your help.
