This priestess asked Zeus to help the Toronto soccer team score in today's game.

"Hear me as I ask your blessings on this stadium, where bold men will strive on the morrow to wrest victory in the field.

"May their efforts delight your eyes. Let their battle be glorious, yet grant safety to these men in their exertions.

"And (this is the biggie), let those who behold the contest see many goals over which to raise their voices in wild cheers of approval."

What do you think of the prayer? And the story itself ? (if you read it)

They didn't win..... But at least they SCORED! (Something they hadn't done in 9 games before that point)

The prayer was quite poetic, I thought. And the story was written in an (arguably) respectful style, especially for the Sun.

Now we just have to see how the team does...

With merely about all those solutions and "assaults" on the questioner, what if a solitary practitioner has a small team of folk inquiring for preparation and desirous to be initiated into the craft? does no longer that require the solitary practitioner becoming a severe priestess? Or can any solitary be a instructor to those desirous to boost into wiccans?

I've never understood anyone praying to any deity for a certain sports team to win. How do they know that god or goddess isn't a fan of the other team, if that god or goddess cares about sports at all?

The prayer is nice. The story, well? They tried to be funny but not disrespectful, so OK. Still made her look a little cracked.

Maybe a tad sarcastically written. I guess it's a good think that different pagan beliefs are getting some *positive* exposure for once.
Did they win, btw?

like the others, I found it more or less respectful, a little tongue in cheek, there have been much worse depictions of Wiccans and Witches in the news.

The day they print a similar article in which the Goddess is taken JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS THE CHRISTIAN GOD is the day I say HALLELUJAH AND AMEN!

i thought that it was pretty cool...

it didn't sound as if she was asking for her team to win just for it to be exciting.

it seemed well written, and the prayer felt right.

bright blessings.

The story was okay. Glib, but not insultingly so. I've seen worse, I've seen better.
