I know that lettuce, cukies, (cucumbers), mushrooms, and celery are considered to be "free" that is sugar free..mostly water based..but, what else is out there...we diabetics have to be really, really careful!!

If you know of a web site with the "correct free" diabetic veggies or fruits...please send it to me!!

I'm not sure about what you're talking about with the "free" stuff. The only vegetables I'm concerned about are usually in the sub groups of grains or fruits... they're very high in calories. The rest of them, like you might put in a salad, I eat with total reckless abandon. In other words, I'm only careful when it comes to carbohydrates and sugar.

It all depends on the carb count. Only uncooked mushrooms, for example are "free." Fried/stuffed/cooked/etc. mushrooms are not.

Lettuce and cukes are free and so are pickles.

You also need to be aware of what an "official serving" is. Two raw green beans won't do anything to your sugar but a pound would!
