Yes.

Herpes can be spread from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa through oral sex.

Usually cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1, but they can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2.

Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2, but, like cold sores, they can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 1.

Take care!

I was told by my gyn when I asked that question, not for myself as I have been married for 32 yrs. and have not had that problem myself, however, my daughters both have that and got it from oral sex from the men they were dating at the time. Nice gift to give them. The one guy had a cold sore, and I saw it and told him I hope you are not having oral sex with my daughter, she was not in the room at the time. He swore he wasn't until it was healed. Cold sores are herpes simplex virus 1, I believe and when the sore isn't totally healed on the lips or corner of the mouth and the man performs oral sex on the female, she can get genital herpies. Any tiny cut or open sore gives the virus a chance to get in and attach itself to your nervous system. As you probably already know, there is medication, but so far, there is no cure. So, good luck and I hope this helps. Don't mind the male avatar, as I am using my brother-in-law's computer while I am visiting NJ from Florida.

If she does have herpes than yes, you can catch it by giving her oral sex, especially if she has the possibility of any active sores. That is how it is transmitted, through contact, whether oral or otherwise. Even if there aren't any sores it's still possible to transmit the herpes virus. I would suggest you use some kind of protective barrier between your mouth and her vagina. A dental dam or even saran wrap will work as long as you don't have any direct contact between your mouth and her vagina. Good luck.
