All endangered species are affected by the ecosystem.
The bald eagle is a good example. Use of DDT for insect control and its persistence(it did not decay very rapidly)in the environment was found to cause thinning of the egg shells. This resulted in fewer and fewer successful births. The eagle population was declining. The bald eagle was added to the endangered species list.
Laws were passed banning DDT in the United States. The "ecosystem" gradually reduced the amount of DDT. The bald eagle recovered, and now has been removed from the endangered species list.

The longleaf pine savannah of the southern U.S. is one example of a threatened eco system. There are several species that prefer this habitat and it is currently being replaced by houses, farms, and pine plantations. Dodos are already extinct. They have been wiped out with the aid of human searching and the creation of animals no longer indigienous to the dodo habitat which preyed on dodos and their nests.

Humans are endangered. Nuclear waste materials are permeating our food and water systems causing genetic mutations and cancer.

Platypus.
Tasmanian Devil. Has facial tumour disease. And Platypus has had signs of same recently.
They are very beautiful animals and deserve our attention.
