As most of you know I am moral upstanding citizen who does not eat mest, conusme alcohol or use any products that would contain an animal content. However, last night my BF ( yes some will remember he is a stockbroker) had a reception with his office. Well.... they insisted that everybody take a glass of sparkling wine (champaigne) to celebrate their great billing cycle. I was forced to drink the glass of champaigne..... Now I feel so immoral because of it. Yes, it did make me warm and a little fuzzy all over but that is why it is evil. Should I tell my BF that he needs to explain to his work that alcohol is immoral and that they should not have it at functions?
YES this is a real ?, and any hatemongers will bereprted. I am in a real quagmire at the moment.

First of all not eating meat and not drinking does not make you a moral person! Get through your skull and into your BB of a brain. Jesus ate meat and drank wine! People have Those sharp pointy teeth for the ripping and tearing of flesh. Our eyes are in the front of our head not on the side as is the case with every other mammal that is a predator. Vegans usually have to take all kinds of supplements to get what they are missing from poor diet. That's fine if you want to live that way but don't say it is because you are a moral person! Your diet has nothing to do with morals!!!!! Every vegetarian in nature is food for something else. About having your boyfriend tell his job to not have alcohol at THEIR parties is retarded. When he is the boss he can make that decision. I feel for him actually! One good thing about the people that don't eat meat is the fact that if all of the animals were wiped off the face of the planet I would still have food! If god didn't want us to eat animals. he wouldn't have made them out of meat!

You were "forced" to drink the alcohol? You couldn't have just taken the glass, not drunk from it, and put it down discreetly? Did someone hold a gun to your head to make you drink that glass of champagne?
If you don't drink alcohol for ethical reasons, you can very easily say, no, thank you, I don't drink. I almost never drink, simply because I don't like the taste, but if there is a champagne toast, I will be a sport and have a sip or two, and leave the rest of the glass. And I don't think they'd force, for example, a recovering alcoholic (which I'm sure you aren't) to drink.
No, you shouldn't tell your boyfriend to tell his company not to serve alcohol. Not everyone considers it immoral. If his bosses want to serve it, that is their right. If it bothers you that terribly, you can always not go to events where alcohol is served.

learn to pretend to drink! Ive learnt to do this when your in large important parties, it saves from getting too drunk and acting a prat.
Getting your BF to tell his work that its immoral to drink will only get him the sack or at the least laughed at. It'll then probabaly put a strain on your relationship and then your down the single road. Doh!

Hey Ashley- what is MEST because I don't think I eat that either, but I did just get back from five days in Vegas where I drank alllllloooot of alcohol. I think that if you really didn't want to drink it you could have said no thanks but you do what ever you need to do to justify it in your little ol mind - k - have a great day ash

Why don't you just tell people you don't drink? It has to be exceedingly difficult to find vegan wine and beer...well, anywhere. I tell people I don't drink all the time, and although I get a weird look now and then when I have a cup of coffee, most people are pretty respectful of my choice.

*gasp* not the warm and fuzzy feeling!! That's the feeling of the devil, dontcha know. I'd spend less time trying to get justification to force your opinions down people's throats and more time finding an exorcist.

What you think is right & wrong should not be inflicted on those around you. I can't imagine that anyone at the party held you down & poured the alcohol down your throat. If your boyfriend ever becomes your husband_the marriage probably won't last long.
