husband has been taking hi b/p medicine for 35 yrs. For two days have been monitoring his b/p and it has been extremely low (79/53, 88/57, 90/60, 100/62. just jumping around on these low readings. Why would it begin doing this? he is 66

It is hard to say right off. In order to make sense of it. I would need a list of all of the meds he's taking. He may be taking two or more meds that could lower his BP. Some meds lower your BP but are prescribed for other reasons such as lasix. And, as always, he should call his doc and schedule an appointment. He may simply need a lower dose now. If he is taking more than one med for his BP then he should take them at different times. (space them out) If he gets symptomatic with this low BP (dizzy, lightheaded, nausea, chest pain, altered mental status) he should go to the ER right away.

Has he started taking viagra or similiar meds? That can lower BP. And is he using nitro tabs for angina? That can lower BP( and should not be taken if using nitro)

He will have to report to a cardiologist to have his medications and other investigations reviewed.Better have an early appointment.
