don't worry about it! i have been a vegetarian for a little over 4 months and I had a blood test to make sure i am still healthy. the doctor said I am very healthy! just make sure you dont just eat junk. try to have peanut butter in a sandwich or on a spoon because it had a lot of protein and so do other nuts like walnuts.

Eat veggies at least 6 times a day and eat some kind of nut about 3 times a week and you'll be fine on the protein. Every vegetable has some amount of protein in it. Don't worry about that unless your an athleate. K
Fiber. I have no problem with that. I've been a veggie for 7 years and have not had one stomach problem associated with fiber. Get my drift. If you are worried eat more whole grains. Every where possible. Tomatoes are high, high, high in fiber. Be very careful with them. Things like mini wheats have lots of fiber in them. Peanut butter has fiber in it. You really only need a small amount in your diet or else things can get messy. You shouldn't have to worry about that much either.
The thing you do need to worry about is getting enough iron. It is very easy as a veggie to not get enough iron. Very easy. Eat things like nuts, broccoli, peanut butter and beans. Beans are VERY HIGH in iron. Get to know all the different types of beans. You should eat them at least once a week. And the side effects of eating alot go away do go away after a while of eating them alot.

First of all, don't worry about the protein. Unless you eat a diet of junk food or don't eat enough food, you're getting plenty of protein. Even vegans get more protein than they really need.
As for fiber, eat plenty of whole grains, whole pieces of fruit (not juice), vegetables, some nuts, and beans.
Basically, eat a balanced diet, and you will be just fine.

when you start out definately take suppliments and vitamins, while you collect info on what foods are good sources of vitamins, minerals and proteins.
beans and rice are a complete protein.
spirulina, quinoa, soy, buckwheat, hempseed, and amaranth contain complete proteins in each (wikipedia, search complete protein)
as far as fiber goes, vegetarians are set up better than carnivores tons of fiber in tons of veggies.
eat lots of whole grains.
cook recipes that call for meat and just use tofu in place (i sautee mine first all the time otherwise it has a tendancy to become mushy)
one recipe i love love love is dave lieberman's coconut curry, it calls for chicken broth and chicken, but i make it without the chicken (and you can use veggie stock in place of chicken, obvi.) all the time and it's just as fantastic!
and if you start craving something like say..tuna, or ham. your body's telling you it wants something from it. usually protein, iron or omega 3 fatty acids. listen to your body, you'll learn how. so when you start wanting something like that, go get something chock full o'protein.
i don't know if you're omitting eggs, but if not, they're jam packed.
peanut butter has protein too!
i better stop. i keep thinking of things.

I am a fellow vegetarian... not exactly new but i can pass on some advice. Well, you need to get protein every day and get fiber not exactly every day but you need to try really hard to fit it into your diet. Its hard for me to get fiber but it gets easier little by little.

This is a really big undertaking with lots of little tidbits of information to keep in mind. The source that has really helped us work into the lifestyle is "the vegitarians for dummies" book. It is a wealth of information that I could never even hope to fit in here.
