fortunately, i do not have insect problems. we'll see spiders occasionally, and i'll have my husband scoop it up and take it outside. if i happen to be walking outside in the morning, and there's a snail trying to get across the sidewalk, i'll help it out and put it on the other side. he'd probably get squished...
BUT... i do squash the occasional cockroach i see in my bathroom. ::i'm getting goosebumps as i type this:: they can carry bacteria and have been shown to leave chemical traces behind so that other cockroaches can follow... wouldn't want them getting to our food! i do feel bad after i do but cockroaches are the exception.

I don't give a hoot about insects. They are really just little, highly complex robots. They don't even have a central nervous system, and so they're incapable of thought, feelings in the sense that vertebrates feel, pain, etc. I mean, if you're going to be concerned about insects then you'd have to worry about showering because of the little mites that live on your skin or in your hair. You've gotta draw the line somewhere. And, living in a New York City apartment if I had a problem with exterminators my apartment would be absolutely overrun and then I'd never get a girlfriend.

Well, whenever I go biking, I deliberately avoid stray ants, ant farms, ant gatherings and all kinds of little critters (especially dead cicadas, ants love those), whenever I see a worm drying up, I take him home or to the nearest moist soil to rehydrate and revive.
I totally get so unsettled when it's lawn mowing day or spreading chemicals on grass day, because then all the lovely insects and creatures and biofriendly inhabitants either get killed or get a living environment destroyed, especially if it's in the garden and insects were feasting on a freshly fallen apple or compost fertilizer.
I love bees, so it's so sad to see this happen. In this neighborhood, it's regulated by some organization to do this, so everyone sits around whilst a lawnmower is blasting in the garden.
As for roaches, and "household pests", psh. I once had a neighbor who put 7 bottles of air-release Raid into the house. I hated it. and he was so inconsiderate to what chemicals were actually in the bottle, b.c only 1.7% of the chemicals were actually listed by name, the other 98%, who knows? whether it's a neurotoxin to humans or not. It's killing something, so even a trace is harmful to other organisms, including humans, because humans are also connected to nature.
It was equivalent to a gas chamber. and he was Hitler. and I couldn't talk to him anymore.
if you're going to those lengths, and any lengths to exterminate organisms and not even once spare thought to it, then it gives you some perception of how sadistic and psychopathic some humans are (including misinformed)
I'd say cover food and shoo flies away.

If I find a lone bug indoors I do my best to scoop it up and bring it outside, I've been lucky enough to not have any infestations since I've been living on my own. I don't like the idea of killing anything, but sometimes one might have to make exceptions for bugs. My dad is an exterminator, so I know all about how hard it is to get rid of insect infestations without chemicals. And when we had bugs killing the pumpkin plants in our garden we did have to use pesticide. Anyway, killing stuff sucks and I don't like to do it.

I try my best to capture them and place them outside. If I have the chance I scoop them in a cup and put them out. As far as if I ever got a roach infestation, I would probably spray. That is a matter of hygiene, as roaches can crawl into things and then onto food.
I think the best deterrent for having insects is to just seal everything that has to do with food. If they cannot get to the food they will leave for an easier source(probably the neighbor)

Some bugs I always try to set free. I am always the one who puts the bee outside in math class, rather than letting the guys in my class smash it with a pen. For some reason, (bees and there are others, too) are bugs that i don't like to kill. We don't have cockroaches were I live, and i doubt i could get close enough to kill, but i would glady pulverize it. And flies? I have no problem killing flies. Not only are they disgusting and annoying, but they only have about 24 hrs to lay their eggs on my food and then die! Ew!
I'm an vegetarian, but not for moral reaons.

Being in the UK,i thankfully don't suffer from roaches!
But even before i was vegetarian,i could never kill bugs, even though i'm scared of spiders and bee's.
The few times i went to kill bugs,i'd feel so guilty that i just couldn't!
But yea,if i have bugs in my house,i just open the window, shut the door to the room they're in,and hope they go away fast haha.

I personally hate killing anything, it has always made me cringe. But lately with children, it really depends on the situation. I saw this new bug in my house, it freaked me out, so I tried to kill it....it wouldn't die very easily which freaked me out more!! Finally when it had died and I flushed it down the toilet, I gave it my apologies for not knowing what it was and not giving it a swift death and of course for killing it! Most of the time I try to just get the thing out of my house! I do have the exception for black widows (dead upon site) and annoying flies that won't leave my home!!! And when my husband sees a spider first he chooses to kill them, I ask him to make it a quick death instead of torturing it! I haven't had to deal with roaches in a very long time, but I think that would be one of the things I kill!

With me, I really don't have the heart to kill them; if a family member spots it, I do try to stop them from killing it and offering to catch it/release it outside (which sometimes works). When I'm alone, if I see a roach crawl across the floor, I just let it cross. In my mind it's really gross, but at least I won't have the squashed/poisoned/stamped roach on my carpet floor. =)
Ants and flies (and other bugs) I really don't have a problem with.

there's a large difference between being religious and being a christian. i understand lots of "religious christians" who fail at practising what they pontificate and arent forgiving. in the experience that your a christian although who's certainly following after christ- no be counted what that sounds like church common or no longer- then you definately could be. i think of the church is unquestionably horribly failing in accordance to what Jesus might have needed it to look like. The church as a company is crammed with people who're judgemental. The church using fact the physique of christ believers commonly is. i attempt to be non judgemental and forgive others using fact i attempt to love others the way christ enjoyed me. yet i'm no longer ideal in any way shape or kind. i'm so snarled and that i fail a million situations an afternoon. Regardless although I nevertheless have a love that died for me and stored my existence no be counted my errors. Ultimatley CHRIST is Non-Judgemental and Completley Forgiving. Heck he outfitted his church on plenty of loopy sinners. a number of his closest followers used to kill and homicide and persecute christians and that they grew to become cornerstones of his church. So if christians are loving others the way christ enjoyed they shouldnt decide. using fact he did no longer and in no way will and he loves you no be counted what you probably did or could do ever. His go took all of it away and he took your sin so its long gone from you and he needs you to love him so undesirable. Its all he needs and all he craves. Its why he died in user-friendly terms for you.
