Tomorrow I'm taking cookies to my son's preschool registration and I want to make a good impression. I'm not a baker but they taste great. I don't even have a platter to serve them on.

Thanks.

For something like that it's fine, that way you can leave the cookies and not worry about your plate getting broken

Real paper plates will detract a bit from the wonderful cookies. The disposable plates that are coated with shiny color would be fine, though (sorry, I don't have an official name for them, but they're only a bit more expensive than paper). You can get the dinner-sized ones at the supermarket and the large serving-sized at any party store. I think it's perfectly fine to stack them on a few dinner-sized plates.

no it is not tacky. my brother was in preschool last year. and i did the same thing. it is so easy. and you dont need much to impress a bunch of three and four year olds. they are more into the cookies anyways. and the teachers already have enough stress. they dont want to have to look after a platter and stuff. your idea is fine. dont stress about it. they kids will love it. and the teacher will be glad that you brought cookies. hope this helped. have a yummy time.

At the dollar store, you can buy a "gift bag" in the appropriate size and also some colourful tissue paper. Line the bag with enough paper in order to have plenty to fold on top, stack the cookies inside.

That way it can be passed around and it can be covered when it is not passed around. If you have a ton of cookies it can be stacked in more than one bag.

How ever you decide to serve them, I'm sure your cookies will be a hit.

That's not tacky at all. It just depends on the occasion and a preschool registration is not the type of occasion that calls for anything more than a plastic plate. Just try to find the sturdiest kind you can.

Not at all. Some paper plates are lovely. I use paper plates for everything. It's what's on the plate that they will enjoy. Don't worry, you'll make a first impression, by the way the cookie tastes. :)

A better idea would be for you to take one of the low cardboard soda crates (the kind where 24 or so soda cans are arranged) and cover it with a lively wrapping paper both inside and out. Then line the bottom with wax paper and arrange your cookies. They will look great and the box can be thrown away. It is much sturdier than using paper plates and lots more flashy.

The preschoolers don't care about the plate they are on, they just want the cookies, as long as they "taste great" you are fine.

Pre-schoolers won't care, and any other parents that do aren't worth your bother.

Have fun and enjoy you kids' school experience, they grow too fast to worry about such trivialities.

In 10 years when they are hosting float parties, attending dance formals and such, more formality is in order to ensure they learn how to properly entertain and behave as adults.

If you are still worried, stop by the store and pick up some fun paper plates; some brands come in colorful, fun shapes i.e. clowns, elephants et al if you can find them.

Not tacky at all. It is sweet that you are bringing a treat! Very thoughtful!!

If you wanna have fun though, how about washing and sanitizing one of your kids' toys and using it to serve? I used a yellow plastic dump truck at a party once- it was a hit!
