For about a year now my grandfather has been having these attacks...Where his sugar or diabetes level goes really low and he's completely out of it. He talks out of his head [saying random things], incoherent, hard to understand, yells alot, and in his recent attack he kept talking about his deceased brother...Saying "he was coming to see him". He had his latest attack early this morning he was screaming and vomiting and hard to manage. We slipped a peppermint in his mouth [it usually gets his diabetes level back to normal when it goes too low] he kept spitting it out and it took hours to get him back to his normal state...Is it just because his sugar level is low or is it something else? He goes to the doctor regularly and they've never discovered anything...What should I do? After his blood sugar level goes back to normal so does he but he doesn't remember the attack at all...Plus he's loosing weight and he eats alot...What could be wrong? Help please?

Its called having a hypoglycaemic attack.
You should look at his diet and ensure that he is eating enough complex sugars (eg fruit and carbs) to avoid these hypo's. Everytime he has one he is at risk of falling unconscious (with death a possbility). Also every hypo kills off a few brain cells.
When he has them try smearing honey in his mouth instead as he can't spit that out as easily.
Get him a blood glucose monitor and have him check his levels every 4 hours - if they fall below normal (which I think is 4-10mmol/L - check with doctor as I am a Vet Tech and only am sure about animals) then he needs to eat some thing sugary eg diet coke, fruit juice, jelly beans.

Keep orange juice or a regular RC cola near then give him a hamburger to back up the low sugar. This is common in some people he is not crazy. You can lose or gain weight this is the diabetes. This also causes over eating along with depression and confusion. Have his Thyroid checked. You may have to tell the doctor to run these test ,because MOST doctors are not all that reliable these days.

I have a sister with diabetes. When blood sugar is very low, the person may sweat profusely and be irrational or combative. Ask his doctor, please, but I would not use a peppermint, because it will work slowly at best, and he could choke on it. Try to give him orange juice or grape juice- maybe 2-3 ounces. At a pharmacy you can buy a gel to boost blood sugar. It should not take long to get him back to normal. He needs emergency medical attention if he's not back to normal pretty quickly. Extremely low blood sugar can induce a coma. Please talk to his doctor. Good Luck and God Bless

He has a doctor right? I would assume so as he has diabetes and I would think someone runs his blood levels on occasion. I would take your grandfather to the doctor, let the doctor know what is happening with these episodes and ask the doctor what to do.
It sounds like it could be the blood glucose level dropping too low and maybe a bit of dementia too, the man is 77 as well as diabetic, so I am basing my opinion on both of those facts.
Good luck and cherish every moment with your grandfather! : )

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Get him to his physician for a check up again. Something doesn't seem right! I get disoriented when I have a low blood sugar, too. It's a normal occurrence. Sounds like your Granddad needs to be monitored more closely to find out the causes of his lows.

I assume he takes medication and is on a special diet, correct? What is happening is his insulin dose needs to be adjusted. Does he have a glucose monitor? Before you do anything the Doctor needs to fully understand what is happening at home. If this is not brought under control he could go into a diabetic coma and not wake up. It sounds to me like he needs help soon.

when his sugar goes low hes uncconscience. yes and this is when smetimes you have to get the sugar up fast because it does harm to the organs. if its too high the same thing happens. when its low you take a glass of orance juice and put 3 tsp of sugar in it and stir. you make them drink this and they will come out of it soemtimes its 15 or 20 minutes sometimes less. you have to have them drink it. its the fastest method of bringing them out of it. He also is not reading his sugar (blood) very often. if he did this before lunch breakfast and supper. also you need to check it 3am every so often. if he has low sugars early in the morning then he will have to wake up and check it and if you have an alarm you will need to check it there. that is only way you can keep it down where it belongs and diet it one main thing to help.

Bring him tot he doctor. High or low blood sugar can cause confusion and affects the level of consciousness. His diabetes (Type II) needs to be controlled to prevent further deadly complications. Please bring him to an endocrinologist fast. If he uses a home blood glucose monitoring, use it and record each result to bring to the doctor.
