It is ok because plants do not have a nervous system that can feel pain, and they do not feel fear (if they did, they would be able to either fight or flee), whereas animals raised for consumption feel both pain and fear. Also, plants are able to live outside, and be free (even though they can't go anywhere) whilst animals are raised in factory farms and terrible conditions (most of them). Also, only dairy cows are allowed to breed, and they do not raise their calves - their calves are taken away from them a few days after birth and either sent to a veal farmer (males) or raised as a dairy cow (females) - the dairy cows are then sent to the slaughterhouse to be made into hamburgers. They also don't usually wait for the cattle to mature because the meat gets too tough, and in veal, the calf doesn't even make it to a juvenile age. So, while, yes the vegetables are alive, they live a lot better life than food animals, and don't feel the same things as the animals, so it is much more humane to eat just the vegetables than it is to eat animals.

Sorry, this is a typical meaty cliche. In fact, you hit number 21 in the anti-veggie cliche charts:

We all know plants do not have feelings, nervous systems, pain receptors, pain processing ability....
surely you can see the difference between a stick of celery and a Jersey cow ?
Lets humour you for a second. Lets say plants do have feelings.
So, how does that justify or validate the meat industry and abuse of animals ?
This "plants have feeling too" thing ( lets not honour it by calling it a debate ) is a regular comment from meat eaters and it really does seem like a desperate distraction technique to somehow try to justify your support of the aninal pain, torture, death and abuse.

There are many reasons for being vegetarian or vegan other than just not killing things, you know. Lower enviornmental impact, religion and health just to name a few. Not to mention that you kill more plants by shuffling them through an animal first than if you just ate them directly and, as humans would not survive without food, it's better for the plants just to eat them without the middleman.

Many veg*ans ate meat faster or later of their lives. the assumption is to no longer precisely mirror the beef style, yet to create a nutrients it extremely is hearty and flavorful and mimics earlier well-known ingredients. to boot, while i'm ingesting a veggie burger, i've got slathered it in ketchup and mustard, placed on some tomatoes and lettuce, possibly some onions, and that i'm customarily tasting that, plus in spite of flavors they used to season the veggie burger. I recommend, once you're ingesting a lifeless cow burger, are you tasting the flesh or the seasonings used to style it? once you're ingesting any meat product, are not you extremely tasting the seasonings used? the comparable concept applies. I strongly doubt that any animals died so somebody ought to create an incredible veggie burger. maximum of them are meant to be flavorful vegetable patties on buns with condiments besides.

This has been asked a million times before and none of us are changing yet. Not everyone is vegetarian for animals rights, plants are easier to replenish in the world than animals, and plants do not feel and react to cruelty, but animals do.

Plants are alive yes. They do not have feelings they don't suffer when they are picked. Cows have feelings they feel pain when you cut their neck to die to wind up on your plate.
Every one of those animals you eat started out running for it's life.

Read "The Jungle".
And actually, they are not allowed to breed on their own. They only keep females, and they slaughter them off randomly.

Actually, there are some vegetarians like myself that don't eat meat for other reasons. I just can't stomach chewing through flesh, where blood once flowed... get me? I just can't do it, however, I cook meat everyday for my family and in fact, encourage my son to eat it because I know how good it is for you. I would love to be able to eat things like burgers and steaks but just can't.
