Does that mean he is not eating right? I got him on a raw vegan diet to try and improve his energy levels. Please give me some advice as I am worried about him.

Also, how many teaspoons of B12?

I suspect its a evasion technique when you are around, thats all.

You'll probably find he's tied out because of Ashley 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Do you have any sense of responsibility for the rash of Ashleys created to take the piss out of you and this fourm ?

Let me guess, you are right and the rest of the forum is wrong.

I recommend plenty of fruits from the rose family. Fruits like peaches and pears contain natural caffeine that isn't harmful for the body, but wakes you up. Eat plenty of apples; they have more caffeine than coffee, but are way more beneficial.

Also, try introducing many positive elements into his lifestyle. Talk optimistically with him. Play some upbeat music. Anything to lighten his spirit and keep him going.

However, make sure your friend just doesn't have a naturally slow metabolism. There may be nothing wrong with him.

A couple of years ago I developed this same problem. I ate as healthy as I could. I cut out sweets and junk food and started taking a vitamin. I was still sleepy all the time. Then one day I discovered the source of my problem. It's a very common disease called college. This summer seems to have provided a temporary cure, but I suspect my problems are going to begin again VERY soon, especially now that I'm afflicted with an even more virulent strain of the disease called the Double Major. With any luck I will be cured in another two years, but I will have to watch out for that sneaky illness called Career.

Iron deficiency leads to fatigue. The raw diet you have him on obviously isnt agreeing with him. Kinda puts paid to your 'Vegan is the healthiest diet around' arguement huh. Give the guy a proper cooked meal preferably with some nice lean meat and watch him magically come back to life.

He needs to have a well balanced diet which includes meat. He may be sleepy because he is ill (e.g. anaemia or diabetes) or depressed. Could be that he does not have a good sleep pattern - either not enough sleep, too much sleep or irregular sleep.

If still sleepy, perhaps he needs to visit the doctor for a general check up.

Could he be aneamic?

I was soo tired, and didnt know why! I ate properly, but felt sleepy no matter what.

I found out my blood count was 8, which is half of what it should be. Ask him to go to the doctors to have his blood taken, to be sure..

Supplements aren't as good as the real thing, so eat things that are naturally high in vitamins such as fruit and veg

Otherwise, eating things that are high in iron wont do any harm. Such was Kiwi fruit, sprouts etc

Good luck and i hope he feels better soon!

He nees more IRON. Give him foods with lots of iron. I'm anemic. Is he cold all the time, get enough sleep ( 8 hours) but can still sleep forever, bruise easily? If so he needs much more iron. Without enough iron your body starts to slow down. Everything is getting enough blood but not healthy blood. Iron helps eliminate the carbon dioxide from your blood. Without enough you literally start to slow down. You can take him to the doctor to get a blood test. They normally just prick your finger. Easy.

You only need about 2.5 grams of B 12 a day.

Strict vegetarian for 7 years.

Try getting him to eat apricots for iron. Also i find hemp milk smoothies with added spirulina or chlorella, cinamon, raw cacoa nibs, honey, bananas, avocados or any combination of these is a good energy boost.

Eat enough fruit during the day. Start your day with healthy grains and fruits, then make sure to eat fruit during the afternoon when that slump hits. I know the slump well, and after I started being addicted to fruit, I no longer get the afternoon slump.
Be sure to take a B-complex vitamin, and get enough iron.
