A long time ago the doctor said not to take Halls cough drops, becuase I have a heart condition know as Cardiomyopothy, basically weakness of the heart muscle which causes the heart to fail. I don't remember why they said I can't take it, but I have a bad cough and it is the only thing that seems to help with me. Does anyone know why they would tell me not to take it?

It has to be something that is in it, but like the answerer before me said all that's in it is menthol???Hmmmm I cannot help you with this one, but just leave a message for your doc and she will tell you why.

I have absolutely no clue why a doctor would tell you to not take Halls Cough Drops. The only active ingredient in them is Menthol! As far as I know Menthol will not harm your heart.

Why don't you ask a pharmacist if there is any reason it would affect Cardiomyopathy patients.

Sounds like an ingredient in it will cause your pulse to raise. This is also the same reason why giving it to small children can be risky (or annoying). I"m sorry I don't know the ingredient.
