Make up a big pan full of beef stroganoff. Is made with serving size pieces of round steak, browned in pan with 2 onions. Add in 1-2 cans of beef broth. (depends on how much steak you cook) Dilute with water by half. Simmer slow until done, couple of hours. Thicken broth with corn starch/water mix or flour/water mix(which ever you use for thickening) Season with salt/pepper and stir in one 8 oz container of sour cream. Serve over noodles or rice. This is easy and very delicious. Can be brought to the table in nice serving dishes. Have fresh green beans or fave veggie and a salad for the meal. What, no cake. Must have cake for a birthday party. The new thing is Cupcakes! Yes, easy one to fix with a cake mix and canned frosting. Decorate up pretty. Or buy some from your local bakery. They look so nice and can have different flavors if ya wish.

Or try a scoop of good vanilla ice cream, put into a wine glass. Drizzle Kahlua over the top. Sprinkle on shaved chocolate or leave plain. Is really elegant and good.

Fruit cup as an appetizer-Flavored and very chilled Perrier water. Chicken is always good-boneless so you dont have a bunch of stuff left on the plates. Scalloped Potatoes and Asparagus spears with Hollandaise if you like. Maybe some sherbet for a light dessert. Decorate the table with bright colors and napkins. It can look like a birthday party even without a cake.

I have a preference for buffet-style dinner parties. Some people think buffets are trashy and lame. I like them because they are more communal and if some of your guests do not know one another, it gives them an opportunity to interact. WhenI have had these, I make the buffet table look very cool (themes for parties are always good!) and I set up the food "in order": Dips and fingerfoods; salads; sides or main dishes ... I keep the cocktail / beverage table separate (a round table is good I think b/c then a few people can make drinks and not be in one's another's way as much [or it seems that way to me]). Make this table look cool and inviting as well of course. For beer and other things that must stay cold, I like galvinized tubs with ice -- always looks cool.

However, my buffet suggestion is for close friend gatherings. Like a buffet might not be a good idea for impressing the boss or your girl/boyfriend's 'rents.

i could do the only meal factor with 2 or 3 meats and then vegetables with them to decide from the greater low priced meats to in high-quality condition into the cost variety could be beef steaks, hamburger, fried salmon patties, bb ribs, warm canine if infants are invited. Then for vegetables mash potatoes, can vegetables corn, peas, bake beans, pasta salad, mcncheese, those are all inexpensive and robust yet then you may additionally pass with lasagna or pasta dishes by way of fact pasta or tacos isn't very costly the two. then i could do corn bread and rolls then decrease back a cake by way of fact the blend isn't that best neither is the icing or bake tarts something that's attainable in a field that is bigger in case you purchase it already made. one and all of those products will provide them a style and it may basically take me a million or a million a million/2 to prepare myself and it can not fee a ton you may p.c.. and choose the vegetables on your funds and the same with the meats.

If it is fairly informal, I'd suggest a variety of finger foods (hot wings, miniature beef pies, sausage rolls, sausages on sticks, lumpia, spring rolls, miniature quiches, samosas, and perhaps some meats and cheeses and fruits.

If it is more formal, perhaps a braciola (beef rolled with a filling of the Parmesan cheese, eggs to give consistency and whatever additional ingredients such as spinach, ham, bread crumbs, mushroom, onions, garlic, etc.) and a nice selection of roasted vegetable and and a tray of antipasti.
