Also, do you think that dimmed lights spend less energy than lightbulbs at full capacity (the brightest)

I agree with Spiderspell.

if you are interested in using less electricity, then switch to florescent bulbs. Yes, they are more expensive than regular and 'Reveal' bulbs, but they use less electricity, produce less heat, and last at least 6x longer. Look at the 'Life' rating on a package of bulbs. The average incandescent bulb lasts about 1000 hours. Florescent bulbs can last as long as 7,500 hours. Combine the cost of the bulbs and the electricity used, and the expensive florescent bulbs become real cheap in the long run.

If you are talking about GE's Reveal brand light bulbs then no they don't use less energy than regular bulbs. They are only designed to alter the color of light given off. It's the glass part of the bulb that filters the light that changes the color of the light you see.

If you use an electric dimmer to dim your lights then yes that will use less energy but only when the lights are dimmed.

Dimmed lights, if dimmed by an electrical dimmer limiting the amount of electricity the bulb gets and not simply by covering it up, will use less electricity. Covering up a light that is on does not save any electricity at all.
