No you are not. Although it would be very nice of you. Just supply a cake and maybe ice cream too.

Pretty much. If you are the host of the party the expectation is that you would provide the meal just as if you would at your home. You can make the stipulation with the restaurant ahead of time for drinks though. Anyone who wishes to have any alcohol can create their own tab. Another thing I would suggest is asking the restaurant for a set menu price so your guests can pick from a few different dishes that are all in the same price range so it doesn't go over board. Then if people don't want to eat off that menu they are on their own.

I think it would fine for you to include on the invitation, "Guests must purchase their own meals. Cake and ice-cream will be provided" or something along those lines. If it was a small family gathering with just a few people I think it would be good to buy for everyone, but in a big party you shouldn't be expected to :P

In most cases you are responsible for the food. You can provide a cake and ice cream usually yourself. If you have it at someplace like McDonalds in the play area you should get with the store manager to see if you might get a discount on a large number of happy meals and have one waiting for each guest when they arrive.

If you are having the party in a restaurant, and a meal is being served, you are the one that pays. Would you expect the guests to pay for their food at your wedding? Of course not. Sorry but the host pays.

Not if you provide snackies and make sure the invitation doesn't indicate that a meal will be served. Maybe you could list a limited menu with pricing on the invitation so there is no room for misinterpretation?

If you invite people to a birthday party you usually provide the refreshments. So I suppose yes.
If you want the guests to pay for their own, you should specifically state that in the invite so they have enough money with them.

well if you have it on the invitation buy your own meal then no but if you invite people and do not tell them in advance they may think u are footing the bill for everyone and not bring any money. If you don't wanna pay u better say!

I think you would be expected to pay for all of the children in attendance unless the parents' names are on the invitation. Then you would be responsible for paying for adults too.

It depends on how many people are going. if its just a few friends, then, yeah you should pay for them (unless you dont have any money). but if a lot of your friends are going make sure you write on the invitation that they need to buy their own food.
