Of course!

Condoms are NEVER 100% effective in preventing the spread of STDs or preventing pregnancy. The only thing that is 100% is abstinence. Condoms definitely HELP prevent the spread of STDs, but they are not 100% effective.

Yes it is very true. Studies have shown and proved to be true that the HIV virus is so small is can pass through the smallest hole in a condom. The same goes for the HPV virus. There is no safe sex. Wearing condoms gives you better protection, but not having sex is what will protect you better. There are a lot of people having sex with condoms that will not come down with HIV or HPV or anyother STD, but there are just as many that will. Remember when you are with a partner you are also sleeping with everyone they have slept with and everyone those partners have slept with and on and on and on. Be selective, be very choosy and above all be very careful.

Chances of catching any STD using a condom [correctly and consistently] are very low, but not 100% ffoolproof. For example, if you wear a condom for sexual intercourse but your partner has an STD infection in the mouth [like herpes, gonorrhea, etc.], you'll also contract the disease, either by kissing or through oral sex.

According to the NHO condoms can have microscopic imperfections, which is all the AIDS (or a number of other organisms including hepatitis and several other STDs) virus needs for transportation out of the condom. Your chances are about 50/50.

Yes. There are a few things that can really bust your sawhorse like Hepatitis B, C, HIV, Syphillis, and that strange form of Chlamydia.

But for the most part, unless you are screwing around with real sleazebags, I wouldn't worry about it. They are not that easy to catch and condoms reduce the incidence to nearly zero.

la nena is correct, to further comment, catching life threatening std's? highly highly unlikely, the only life threatening std i can think about is HIV, and HIV is in its own category, so if you only consider HIV to be life threatening, then no it's not true that you can catch life threatening std's when using condoms, please don't get too absorbed in what people say on these forums, if you want good advice, based on what i've seen, allli, and c.j.b. give excellent advice and are well rounded on topics of STD's, for further resources take a look below.

If you use them improperly such as using 2, using a dried out one, not placing the condom down to near the base of the penis, or removing while still in your vagina then YES. If you use condoms properly then there is almost no chance of contracting an STD except for genital warts.
