Jeez, that's scary. I tried patches (full strength) and gum. Even with the patches, I had cravings, so I used the gum instead of a ciggie. A big nicotine rush!!! The most important thing is your mindset. You have to be willing not to smoke, given your stroke, I think that's all the encouragment you need. You do want to be around for your grandchild growing up. A craving also only lasts about 2 mins - really - count it. Perseverence and breaking habits is the most important thing, you get used to not smoking. Best of luck.

I smoked for over 20 years and quit 10 years ago cold turkey. No it was not easy but I made it and I would not trade it for the world. If you are waiting for yourself to get tired of it. That's just not going to happen.
I got them all out of my house and just tuffed it out. Thankfully I had a job that did not allow smoking in the building so that helped. My biggest problem was at home so when I got really frustrated I just went to bed and slept it off marked off one more day I did not smoke!! Now it has been 10 years!!
Now I smell good I can smell stuff better food taste better and I can breath better yeahhh. I am 46 now. Best thing I ever did for myself. You can do it you just have to want it bad enough.
Talk to your doctor he can prescirbe something for you to take I have heard others that have tired different things and it has worked for them. You just got to want it. Good luck

Well now you can get these special pads from the chemist and what it does is it helps you give up by you not feeling you don't need it you will see in the next couple months you will be like smoking up to two or three times a day.

Commonest and safest are the various forms of NRT = nicotine replacement therapy. A combination of patch and either insufflator or gum, works better than patches alone.

Chantix...I believe that's how you spell it. Some people take longer than others to quit but I've talked to people that have smoked 35 years and have quit using it and they haven't smoked for year now. Ask your doctor about it.
