ask him for his ideas, don't tell him you're doing it, just say, " what would a perfect day be like for you?" Than do it for him. That way it will really be memorable for both of you, and it creates a great opportunity for communication to flow.

My brother had his 13th birthday party at a water park, and he loved it. He was allowed to bring 3 friends. My parents planned to pay for the other kids' entrance into the park, but those kids' parents were nice enough to send them with money. The water park had a pizza place, so my parents just bought a couple of pizzas, it was surprisingly reasonable. The kids had tons of fun, and my parents were able to lounge around and hang out in the sun. After the water park we went home to open presents and eat cake. It was a great party!

id say invite lots of his friends for a pool party if you have a pool or when you get to that age you usually just talk so let them talk if you dont have a pool but give them something to do. order 2 or 3 pizzas one with pepporoni or some topping for kids who like toppings.then have some light snacks like potato chips and pretzels and maybe somthing healthy like grapes this is only like 30 dollars for pizza and a few more for snacks but its not much. PS also im turning 11 in september

My son is seventeen and when he turned twelve instead of a slumber party like for girls we gave him a overnight weekend camping trip with his good friends.make smores hot dogs hamburgers and a nice tuna macaroni salad. easy and cheap the camping trip shouldnt cost more than 200.00 depending on where you live with a group of about 6 to 10.
also try boy scout camps that are not being used in your area.

Let him invite his best buddy to go to a theme park or waterpark for the day. Give each kid $20 for food/games and turn them loose. Take pix.

If you don't want to go somewhere you could set up a tent or two in your backyard and let him have friends stay over. you could go all out with the camping theme but do it at home.....cook outside for them, let them make smores...
have fun!!

A barbecue?
How near do you live to the beach?
But why don't you ask him what he would like - he might be able to come up wiht some ideas, too.
