Firstly teething does not produce fever, nor any other of his symptoms. The vast majority of feverish illnesses in children are viral and are unaffected by antibiotics. They run their course regardless of any therapy, though paracetamol or ibuprofen may reduce the symptoms. The small percentage that are bacterial are little shortened by antibiotic use. Good doctors know this and reserve antibiotics for significant illness that are likely to be bacterial. Overall it has been suggested that between 50 and 85% of all prescriptions for antibiotics are unnecessary.

If you are worried you must however seek further medical advice, there are fortunately a few doctors who are happy just to advise and don't feel that a prescription is always the only way to end a consultation, perhaps one day you will meet one.

Most medication that you take will take time to work on an infection. Usually the ear infections medicines are antibiotics and if the doctor gave you antibiotics, they can take up to 5 days before you start seeing good results. If your toddler isn't better within 5 days of starting his first doses of medications, then I would call your doctor to check on what you should do. Most times, they will recheck your toddler out again to make sure the medications are working and see if the child has worsened or gotten better in those conditions. One good way for you to help the medications work their best in your toddler is to be sure you flush his system with plenty of water based drinks like koolaids or juices. To get more water and less of those beverages into them, dilute the beverage to be 1/3 beverage to 2/3's water or at least half and half. That way they still get the taste but more water. Water will also help flush the infection out if their body and help control their fever. Water to a human body is like water to a radiator in a car. Without it the car over heats. Same with humans. Fluids will help him feel a lot better and will speed the medications to the places in the body that need it.

First of all, i just want to say sorry to hear about your child.
i dont think the fever and the teething are linked, but it is normal for a child who is teethin to have a fever, because the body is relising something is up and devloping a fever to fight it of. when babies pull his legs up alot, it means they are in pain, he may have this cough you are describing as a viral infection to which he is fighting it of himself. It sounds in the end your baby has got to things worng with him
An infection viral or otherwise casing tummy pain. fever, cough, and tummy craps.
An teething.
Means his temperature is so high i would call an ambulance i ent jokin as if it goes to 40 he/she will fry the brain cells and proberly die ( no other way to say it)

So
get an ambulance and get your little toddler seen to

I hope i helped
xx

Then you should take him back to his GP, and tell them you are still worried about it. If he has a high fever then give him a cool bath to bring the temperature down, making sure you get his head wet as well. Try taking a waffle, put it in the freezer, and when it is frozen let him chew on it, the coldness will soothe his gums, and he can gnaw it to death without choking on it. If he has gas, then try rubbing his tummy or patting him on the back to help him break wind.

Meds should start working between 36 & 48 hours. If you are not seeing a difference (him showing sighns of getting better) you need to take back to the doctors. I would call them now and at least talk to the nurse and tell her whats going on. I am sure she will tell you to come in. He should not have to suffer with the meds out today. Get Calling!

If I were you I might just call and say you would either like to talk to your Dr. or his or her nurse on call. If they put you trough to the answering machine just leave a message but say it is urgent he call you back because you are very worried. Give about a hour then call again. That way before you drag him outside to the Dr. office they might just tell you what to do over the phone. Sometimes it takes kids longer to get the medicine through there system.

hello sweetie: listen to me and hear me well. I don't know how long your baby has been Ill but, donot take him back to the previous doctor you've taken him too.if he is still sick, you get your clothes on and take him to the children's hospital in your area. don't worry if you don't have the funds to pay because they will see him regardless and bill you later. they are specialist especially for babie's and children. you've already wasted precious time. what ever is wrong with him they will find it and treat it immediately. and if his temperature is still that high they will retain him over night. what ever you do, donot wait until another day and hope that it will go away on its own. you were given far to many meds, to give him. when children's tylenol would take care of all but the ear infection.donot give him this either.until you have been to children's hospital. now get going and tell them about the meds you were given for him.

teething can give them a temperature and pain in mouth but nothing to do with the tummy, there is a tummy bug going about, my grand daughter keeps being sick with no other symptoms.
