There is no "cure" for HPV infection, although in most women the infection goes away on its own. The treatments provided are directed to the changes in the skin or mucous membrane caused by HPV infection, such as warts and pre-cancerous changes in the cervix.

No there is no cure for HPV. As previously mentioned, treatment is usually geared at taking away the external symptoms such as warts and getting your body's immune system to suppress the virus. Warts can be removed by freezing but for genital warts let your doctor handle this. Your doctor can also prescribe Aldara cream which when used regularly increases your body's immune response so that the warts go away within weeks. You'll probably want to treat your partner as well to avoid re-infection. Prevention is the best thing. The site that was mentioned previously has lots of good info on prevention. There's also a new vaccine called Gardasil that should make you immune to the four most common strains of HPV including the ones that cause the majority of cases of cervical cancer and genital warts. They won't help you with strains that you've already contracted but can still prevent you from getting the other strains. Your insurance company may pay for the vaccine if you are in the high risk age group.

There is no cure for HPV - it is a virus - but the funny thing about HPV is that it just disappears from your system in about 2 to 5 years depending on your immune system - it might go into submission, because the immune system suppressed it, not sure.. However, there are many many strains of HPV, so just because you have one kind, does not mean you can't get another kind cause you can, and just because the kind you have goes away, does not mean you can't get it again, cause you can. But thankfully, there is a vaccine to prevent some of the more serious ones. I suggest looking into that. Most people don't know when they get it, if they have it and who from. So look into that vaccine. ok? Good luck!

There are over 100 types of human papilloma virus (HPV); 30 of these are considered sexually-transmissible. HPV is currently treatable but not curable.

Gardasil, a series of 3 immunizations for women, is intended to prevent HPV 6, 11, 16, and 18. Two of these HPVs cause most cervical cancers; the other two cause most genital warts. A woman can still get cervical cancer and genital warts after these vaccinations, but her risk is greatly reduced. A "Gardasil for men" vaccine is being researched.

To read about sexually-transmissible HPV, which I assume you are asking about, go to http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm.

unfortunately there is no cure hpv. There is still some research going on, on how to "kill" the virus effectively. But unfortunately as it stands meds can cure the symptoms only, but the virus is still present whether it's active or dormant.
