Am I the only one who noticed, and who is upset about the fact that there are no African American cooks with their own show on the Food Network...like Emeril or Rachel Ray? I love watching the food network but this really urks me.

Also, on the Next Food Network Star, everytime they had black contestants, they were the first to get eliminated. The judges never seemed interested in their dishes, but yet you have Paula Dean making all the soul food dishes that a black person would make.

What gives?

Well if you took a pole on jobs that African Americans might want cooking would NOT be at the top of the list. When we have parents who are breeding children for football and basketball and sports where they make mega millions then no you wont see any african americans on the food network. I dont think they are trying to keep any off I just think they have not found one that would work. I mean come on the one representative that was on the Next Food Network Star wore heels to cook in. I am sorry it was a cooking contest not a fashion show. she was too worried about prancing around and looking cute and being perfect to actually cook. I would have booted her off too. I would love to see a show hosted by an African American that was a cross between Rachael Rays $40 a day and Emrils show. A show for families to watch. A show where the person travelled around showing places to go and deals to find for families and kids. Cooking ideas for kids. Lets get kids involved lets try and get some young african americans inerested in cooking and wanting to achieve to me the next food network star.

You haven't been watching long then. They have had them on, I don't remember the guys name. He is the guy who had the show about sweets. He used to be a lawyer and gave it all up to open a sweets shop. Cakes and candy were his thing. He was boring, to put it bluntly. They've had Asians and Hispanics. They just don't get the ratings. That's what TV success is all about. I know there are millions of African Americans who can cook better than Rachel Ray. They just don't have the right combination of talents to get the ratings. I liked the black guy on last years "Next food network Star" I just don't think they would have put a guy on TV who was that large. Nobody wants to watch a really big man cook a really fattening meal. Its like looking in a mirror. I think they knew all along they were not going to hire him but He was good for the show. ( He made it to the final 4) I don't even like the guy who did win, the hair and the piercings are distracting. I don't think he will be there long.

What about Roker on the Road (with Al Roker) and Sugar Rush (with Warren Brown)? Not to mention all of the competitions they have that feature African-Americans along side Caucasians (The Next Food Network Star still has black people in the competition) or Food Network Challenge. Throwdown with Bobby Flay has him getting his butt kicked by black people, Asians, etc.

Al Roker, Warren Brown and Bobby Rivers all host a show on Food Network and all are African American.

Funny guy. "You have your BET". That was really a dumb statement.

Joan Rivers made a funny and said ........
"Blacks are crying about having more blacks on TV. Well they are always on the 6 O'clock news everyday, I don't see their point?" unquote.

There are numerous Black Chef's but they don't have a regular syndicated show. In fact the only one that I can think of is Beverly Smith, the Black Martha Stewart.

Chef Royal was on Iron Chef and he has a show in Atlanta (not sure)....Robert Parnell in Sacramento.

There was this one Black woman years ago, that made the mistake and said chinese restaurants were nasty and they cut her show in San Francisco (lol).

See my next question.

I would venture they just don't have many black contestants or truly qualified black chefs.
I no longer watch the food programs but I am sure there is a lot of politics and stuff for places on the national TV in every field.and 90% are all flamboyant personalities.

I've noticed and was wondering the same thing, especially when I saw the preview of the new show with the Latina host. I did think 'Ok, where is the black cooking show?' There is a guy who has a cooking show on TVOne that's pretty good, but everybody doesn't get TVOne on their cable service.
