I have severe sleep apnea but my tongue has never hurt. It gets very dry-in fact sometimes I wake up with such a dry mouth it is hard to unglue it! But that is when I fall asleep without my CPAP.

With the CPAP machine you keep your mouth closed-no tongue problems with it for me.

That's a good question...I suspect I have sleep apnea...I haven't been tested yet. Sometimes I wake up in the night because my tongue hurts so bad. The feeling doesn't last long, thank goodness. I never thought that this might be connected with sleep apnea. I'm sure curious about the anwsers you get.

Are you using CPAP? If not, the pain in your tongue may actually be acid. It can get bad enough that your whole mouth hurts, even an ache in your jaw. This will go away in a few days (generally) after starting CPAP. If you are using CPAP then you may need a chin strap.
