I'm scared! Will 1 sheet of those toilet seat covers be enough?!

No. STDs are almost ALWAYS spread by sex or some sort of sexual contact. They can NOT be spread by using a toilet seat after someone. If STDs were able to spread by toilet seats, A LOT more people would have STDs out there!

I have had genital herpes and HPV for over 6 years now. I lived with my parents and brothers most of those 6 years (I contracted both viruses when I was 17). NONE of my family members ever got herpes or HPV from me by using something after me like the toilet or shower. I've also had several other family members and boyfriends (now ex's) use the bathroom after me and NONE of them ever contracted either virus. They are just not spread that way.

Crabs, or pubic lice, may be transmitted an infested toilet seat. However, lice cannot survive away from the human body for longer than 24 hours. So contracting pubic lice from a toilet seat is possible, but it's unlikely.

Good luck!

Yes, it's difficult, but remotely possible. Lipstick protects a virus, even HIV, for up to 24 hours. A study at Baylor found that HepC could travel through as much as 5 layers of toilet paper. These are just examples. Carry a bottle of the antiseptic hand cleaner. Squirt it on the seat, wipe with toilet paper, use the paper covers, and you should not have a problem at all.

you can NOT get an STD by sitting on a toilet seat. Skin is pretty resistant, it is used to sitting on a toilet seat

You could possibly get hepatitis A, or a staf infection from a toilet seat. I always use those covers. Yuck. Wash hands afterwards; that is your best defense.

I don't think so...unless you are rubbing all over it. But I have heard that you can get crabs because they crawl off and on. Just squat if possible or if not wrap with a lot of toilet paper.

i would say as long as the seat looks clean there is no urine or fetal matter on it and nothing crawling around on the seat then it is ok.
