I have a recipe that I need some crispy wafers for, but I have to fry them. I thought that Wonton skins would be great, but I can't find any in a store, and I don't have any clue how to make them. Any help?

Try to look for it in Asian Market, or you could try to make it yourself

yield 50 serving

INGREDIENTS
2 egg
2/3 cup and 1 teaspoon water
4 cups and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

In a medium bowl, beat the egg. Mix in the water.

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center of the mixture and slowly pour in the egg and water. Mix well. If the mixture is too dry, increase the amount of water one teaspoon at a time until a pliable dough has formed.

On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until elastic. Cut dough into two separate balls. Cover the balls with a damp cloth for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Cut each ball into four equal pieces. Roll the pieces into 10 1/2x10 1/2 inch squares. Cut the squares into 3 1/2x3 1/2 inch squares.

WANTON WRAPPERS :

INGREDIENTS:
1 egg
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 to 1/2 cup water, as needed
Extra flour as needed
PREPARATION:
Lightly beat the egg with the salt. Add 1/4 cup water.

Sift the flour into a large bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the egg and water mixture. Mix in with the flour. Add as much of the remaining water as necessary to form a dough. (Add more water than the recipe calls for if the dough is too dry).

Form the dough into a ball and knead for about 5 minutes, or until it forms a smooth, workable dough. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out until very thin, and cut into 3 1/2-inch squares. Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to use.

Wontons are kept in the produce section, usually above or around the mushrooms and fresh ginger. They are in every grocery store here on the east coast. Ask your store manager and he may be able to help you.

What are you making?

They should have them in the supermarket in the frozen food section somewhere. You could try an asian market if that doesn't work. You can make your own but it is a procedure. Tried it once and never again. But I think they do have fresh ones in the produce now that I see the above answer.
