Love the post... *drool* lol

Ok well First of All I love something called Chicken Biryani (Pakistani/Indian) dish. Its rice with chicken and a blend of spices... Oh, the chicken can be replaced by potatoes or any vegie.. here's a great recipe:

Ingredients:
1lb chicken parts,
cut in small pieces
2tbsp garlic paste
2" piece chopped ginger
32 oz. basmati rice
16oz water
2tsp red chili powder
1 tsp tumeric
1.5 tsp zeera
2 large chopped onions
5 each cloves
small grn illaichi
1/2 cinnamon stick
1 20 oz. can chopped tomatoes

Preparation:
Put chicken pressure cooker with 2 cups water and pressure cook for 10 minutes.
In a fry pan, add onions and oil to coat and all spices and fry till very aromatic and until the oil separates.
Add tomatoes and cook until oil separates again.
When chicken is done, remove and save the broth.
Fry the chicken in the tomatoe mixture for 5 minutes until it is very dry.
Meanwhile, rinse rice and grease a crock pot with butter.
Add the drained rice to the crock pot and put the chicken mixture on top of the rice.
Measure the broth and add enough water to egual 28 oz of fluid. add to rice and cook on low for 68 hours.
If you do not have a crock pot, par boil the rice for 5 minutes, drain.
Grease with butter a casserole dish and layer the rice and chicken mixture and end with the chicken mixture on top.
Add 4oz water and cover and bake for 40 minutes. You will know when it's ready.

For something sweet ( and I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world it should be on display )

I love Moussaka & Baklava (I make great versions of each -family recipe ;) ) but they are already answers....so I will say Moroccan Bistilla (aka Pastilla).....it is SOOOOOOO good and SO unique....Okay, it takes a while to type out and I can not find a good recipe of it online (no authentic recipes found during my quick search).

Let me suggest the book Couscous and other good food from Morocco by Paula Wolfert -- It is extremely thorough and has never been out of print since it was written years ago....it is the 'bible' of Moroccan cooking! :D yum yum

EDIT: BAKLAVA is GREEK--all the major chefs in the Ottoman empire (for the rules etc) were Greek.

Oh I just moved to Japan and I've always liked Indian curry but it has NOTHING on Japanese curry. If you ever get to try it do it! Oh and there's these other things here I love but I don't know what they're called yet. It's some kind of dough made from rice flour that is formed into little balls so they almost look like marshmallows and they're roasted over a small pit of coals. When you order you get three on a wooden skewer and pick a sauce to top it off... SOOO yummy! I stop whenever I see a stand.
