Do you care about animals?
Do you care about the environment?
Do you care about other people?
What about your family’s health?
If the answer to any (or hopefully all)
of these questions is ‘YES’ then we’ve
got another question for you:
DO YOU REALISE HOW EASY IT IS TO
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ALL OF THESE
AREAS?
If you want to prevent animals from
suffering unnecessarily, to help reduce
deforestation, water pollution and global
warming, to avoid contributing to the
hunger of the world’s poorest people, and
to look after your health and that of your
family now and in the future, then it’s time
to make some positive choices.
You have the choice to use the power of
your purse to take control – to raise your
hand and say ‘enough is enough’. What
you buy and the way you live has a direct
impact on the way the world works, and
it’s time to make a conscious decision that
that impact will be a positive one.
By choosing to live a life free from animal
products you choose a path that is kinder
to people, animals and the environment. In
fact, there are so many good reasons to
reject meat, eggs and dairy products and so
many delicious animal free alternatives that
the real question is not ‘why vegan?’ but
‘why not?’

There are a lot of really great vegetarian forums out there and I bet that'd be a great way to meet local people.
The American section of the Vegan forum might be good for you:
http://www.veganforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12
VeggieBoards is probably my favorite: http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/
VegPeople: http://www.vegpeople.com/cgi-bin/gossamer/gforum.cgi
VegSource has discussion boards, but they're not as easy to navigate as a regular forum (see nav bar at far left). They DO have a pen pal section though - wouldn't vegetarian pen pals be fun! http://www.vegsource.com/
And you might hang out where other vegetarians are. HappyCow.Net has listings of veg restaurants and markets in Georgia: http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/georgia/index.html
I only have one friend (besides my husband!) that is a vegetarian and he only switched because he works for us and I cook him lunch every day and he has liked it so much and has felt so good he decided to go veg (cool, huh???). I have thought about when I have a kid someday (soon - I'm getting old!) it's going to be really nice to have some friends with kids that are vegan as well so I know the kid's not going to have to defend himself all the time from the questions and the people who try to feed him animal products. Anyway, point is, I also have thought about being a little more active in finding local veg people. I wish you tons of luck. You are going to be SO happy being vegetarian. It's been one of the best things I've ever done and every single day I'm grateful I made the switch. Have fun!
