Anything with thought is always a nice gift. I would probably go with (depending on your budget):
-ipod
-nintendo ds lite
-a video game to whatever he/she has
-gift cards to malls, movie theater packets, starbucks/jamba juice cards, etc.
-some cute clothes is always nice
-her/hsi favorite movies
-cool music
-their favorite board game or game in general

when I was 12 I'd get my friends random little things like starburst lip gloss and a necklace. or a poster of her favorite band/actor/model. And balloons! you cant go wrong with a bunch of balloons that say happy birthday...
people where I live usually just gets a build a bear when you run out of ideas. they're cute and you can customize it the way you want

Well, What are her hobbies for example; if she likes sports get her some knee pads or a soccer ball! If her fav animal is a horse for example get her a magazine subscribsion! If she is a gamer get her some ps2 games or computer games! I am 13 yrs old and most of this stuff interests me !!! HOPE THIS HELPS IF NOT SORRY IN ADVANCE!!!

Maybe a favorite music CD that she likes. Or a gift card to the mall!! That way she could go to any store she would like to.

get her a giftcard to a nice store or the mall even her favorite restraunt then maybe like body spray or some lotion if u go with lotion pear smells the best in my opinion if shes kinda like a dark worshiper go for black clothing

You should blow up a picture of both of you and put it in a cute frame that says friends. Get her a acute shirt or cute earrings. Maybe a gift certificate for the movies.

just think of what she likes. her favorite color. a movie she likes and doesnt own. favorite store (a gift card) though if you've known this friend for a long time a gift card is very impersonal but affective. size of clothes/shoes. characters on tv, movies, music that she likes.

Get her a giftcard to the mall so she can choose what she wants and you dont have to spend a whole bunch of time running around getting her a present and her returning it.
