I would look up free clinics in NY on your computer =)
On a secondary note, I got an STD test from my Dr. in Feb. You can get mostly everything with a blood test. If you want a Herpes test, you need to specifically ask. They can do that via the blood if you aren't showing any symptoms. Make sure they can test type 1 and type 2.
The one where they stick the swab in your penis is testing for Chlamidia, and Ghonoria (sp) I beleive. I didn't get that done because I didn't have sypmtoms for it. So, if you aren't showing symptoms I opted out. For genital warts, or HPV for a guy I think the only way to tell is by visual inspection (not 100% though). Just make sure to ask a lot of questions. Best of luck, and you are doing a great thing by getting tested together. SMART & RESPONSIBLE.

Planned Parenthood is Free... or at least you set up an account and can pay later.. which most people never do...
But yes.. The aids test is a cotton swab in the mouth.. and yes if you want to be checked for STDs they will stick a Q tip type thing in your penis.. It hurts a little I am told but you have to do it if you want to know if you are clean.. It only takes a minute.. You can do it!!! Good Luck

Everyone is giving you accurate information, but I just wanted to add that although having your penis swabbed will be uncomfortable, it is really important that you get it done. Chlamydia and gonnorhea are the two most common std's out there, and many times, guys will not have any symptoms. They are very common, and very easy to treat, but even if you don't have the common symptoms (discharge or burning sensations), it is still possible that you have it (depending on your sexual practices). And if you don't get checked for it because you are nervous about the test, you are putting yourself and your gf at risk because these two std's can cause long term damage if not taken care of.

Just remeber that no matter how much it hurts what's in your pants (your penis OR your wallet), imagine the pain that could be caused by peeing razor blades becuase you have an untreated infection or giving your girl something and having her get all pissed and probably leave you all because you were afraid of a Q-tip or a doctor's bill! That's what sucks.

Yes you have to have a cotton swab done of your penis to test for Chlymidia and Gonorrhea. THEY DON't swab your urethra YOU DO IT. You have to ask for each test that you want done. GO to planned parenthood. They have those all over the country.

They can test many things now from just the urine. This is worth doing even if you dont have the other tests because it can check for things like chlamydia

I believe it's just a blood test. Go to a planned parenthood. They might test for free, but I don't know.
