Two days ago, about 9pm my heart started to hurt really badly for about an hour. I couldn't take a deep breath because I felt a sharp pain. I couldn't lay down and the worse was when I lied on my left side. My pulse was 110 and my heart rate was somewhere around 132. After an hour it went to the normal heart rate. Yesterday before I went to sleep I felt the same pain again but it didn't hurt that much as before. Today it hurts a little bit when I breath. I had similar pains for couple of weeks but never for longer than 1-3 minutes. I'm 16, not overweight, not smoking and I never had heart problems. Do you think I may have some heart problems or it's nothing to worry about??
Thanks for helping me.

Yes something is churning up, better report to an ER or call helpline. Don't waste your time on Q/A.

The risk of you having a heart attack is extremely low unless you have close family members, (i.e. father, mother, or siblings) who have had heart attacks at a young age.

Your symptoms of sharp chest pain is not typical of heart attacks also.

However, you go see your doctor to get yourself checked out. You will receive a quick and painless Electrocardiogram or an ECG. This will help screen for possible bad heart rhythms. Your doctor may take a chest xray.

Most likely, this pain could be a muscle spasms on your chest or possibly anxiety.

Bottom line, if your family has high prevalence of heart disease, you definitely should be checked out. If your symptoms are worsening or you have new symptoms, that is also another definite reason to be checked out.

I think it's better to ask your doctor than a web site. I have chest pain at times, and it's like you described, and it's only heartburn. guess that's why it's called that. but really, get it checked out. I used to have a friend who had heart surgery when he was a toddler, he died before he was 30. So I'm real serious when I say for you to get your doctor in on this.

I have experienced similar things... I would get a sharp pain on my chest and in the beginning it would be for a few seconds, then minutes, and one night I woke up to a sharp pain in my chest, and back... I was rushed to the hospital and they did a ultrasound on me.... I was told I had gullll stones in my gul bladder... I suffered nights with pain that lasted for hours and I ended up getting surgery to remove the gul bladder... I think you have my symptoms and if you get sick to your stomach and even vomit... or dizzy, it could be this... you should definitely go to the doctor and see what's going on... Wish you the best and good luck...

I'm not sure if you have heart problems, but make an appointment with your doc to check it out. You don't want to let something like that go.
