They probably should be, but truth is, no, they are rarely different in size. For this reason, our little local Chinese joint has one price for a dish, lunch or supper, doesn't matter.

Usually ala carte portions are smaller than dinner ones. They probably don't have rice on the ala carte. Such as egg rolls or spring rolls just come separately.

Yes, in my experience it is smaller. Not a bad thing, Chinese servings seem huge.
