Quinolone-resistant N. gonorrhoeae is more common in Asia than in the rest of the world (it constitutes less than 1% of cases of gonorrhea in the US).

Luckily, fluoroquinolones are not the only antibiotics out there. Cases of quinolone-resistant gonorrhea are often treated with cephalosporins (ceftriaxone, etc.). Your doctor probably already treated you with this or a similar drug, right?

You can get a follow-up confirmatory test after you complete treatment. That's how you will know if you've cleared the infection. Also, I hope you abstained from sex while being treated. If not, you could have infected your partner and had the infection returned to you. btw, was your partner tested and treated, too? Often with gonorrhea, people can pass it back and forth and never get cured, despite ongoing treatment. This is how N. gonorrhoeae became resistant in the first place!

As for future children, as long as you and your partner don't have prolonged infection, you should still be able to bear children. While gonorrhea can result in infertility in men,it is a much bigger problem for women. So make sure your partner is healthy, too.

I am really sorry for you bro'. I had a brother of a female subordinate take his life after he got a drug resistant gonorrhea. I had to approve the leave application. The problem was that they started to use the sorts of management approaches that they used to use before penicillin came in after the end of WWII.

There were painful probes down the uretha, uses of mercury and sulfur drugs. It was all horrible. Good luck!
