Has anybody intentionally tried or eaten or "feasted" on bugs and what types have you eaten or tried..and what did they taste like and would you ever eat them again?
and why or why not?
Oh,and what is the best way to prepare them or what do you eat them with, or do you only eat them plain? (like any sauces or with meat, or rice or soups, or porridges etc?)
thank you!

Bugs are actually quite tasty. Although some do, I wouldn't eat any raw however, as they all come with parasites which m ay, or may not affect humans. Grasshoppers, beetle, bees and ants can all be roasted or deep fried in batter. Larger grubs can be boiled too and added to spaghetti sauce or used as a base for chili. Butterflys and moths are best not eaten as some can be poisonous, but generally, anything that crawls and is not near the equator is good to eat.... and very nutricious. Best of all are termites, which, if you can get a cup or more of them, are great sauteed in a little olive oil and eaten plain.

I've eaten Witchetty Grubs a few times, and they're not too bad... if you don't think of what you're eating.
They kind of taste like Satay chicken egg or, with a sort of peanut-y taste to them. You can eat them raw, but I recommend cooking them in the coals of a campfire or thread them on a stick and roast them in the flames.

Method :
The reason this recipe is for only one serving is that it is almost impossible to find anyone else to eat them with you.
First catch your witchetty grubs.
1. Raw: Hold the live grub by the head, lower into the mouth, bite off at the neck and start chewing. Tastes like cream.
2. Cooked: Throw them into the coals of the campfire and lightly roast till the skin is crisp like a sausage skin. Tastes like peanuty scrambled eggs or satay chicken.
Tip:
If eating them raw, it's important to start chewing straight away because it can be a bit disconcerting to have the grub wriggling inside your mouth for any length of time.

Witchetty grubs are the larvae of cossid moths, and you can see 'em at :

At UC Riverside many years ago there was an "open house" The Entymology dept. had severl types of bugs for snaks. Grasshopper fried in peanut oil tasted like crunchy peanuts with a soft center. Fried mealworms were crispy like rice crispy cereal but with a meaty flavor. The dried earthworms really didn't taste like much but texture was like be4ef jerky.

I never had bugs but I think the taste depends of the bug. I would eat if I had someone familiar with the "ingredient" to prepare it for me.

Fried bugs(esp. cockroaches) taste like chicken and they are usually served with rice and vegetables.
They are crunchy and very juicy.
