There aren't enough of you.
thats all, carry on.
Somehow, i think the world would be a far better place if we all adopted the cruelty free livestyle that you follow and so many of us aspire to.

Silliness and CAM - i live in the middle of the dairy industry...would you care to have a sensible discussion on the need to artificially milk cows ?
If we didn't mess with them it wouldn't be necessary. you arguements are false.

"silliness"...does 20 thumbs down not say ANYTHING to you ?
All we ask you to do is learn, but you choose to slag us off, rather than correct your "milking" mistakes...shame

Oh, and "silliness", your first PS is ridiculous. When did a battery hen, or dairy cow, or beef cattle, or barned pigs, EVER help with pollination of fruit and veg.
Nonsense

"silliness", your answer is a great source of entertainment - thanks for that. I guess 24 thumbs down means most people don't understand you - what a suprise..
Whats your definition of "forcing" ??
Where did i force my view or opinion onto you ? ( bear in mind this is the vegetarian and vegan section, in which you are not compeled to read)

I realise "being alive" means we kill other animals, just walking around does that. but i don't think thats any reason to then take the gigantic leap to supporting the meat industry.
By "cruelty free" I mean "intentionally-cruel free"

I am almost vegan but I find vegan products often too expensive but some are coming down now that there are more vegetarians and that there's a new worry that cows milk can cause the superbug which might have come from a mad cow.. pastuerizing won't kill that! I drink soya milk, rice milk,
coconut milk whenever they are cheap enough.. I'm on a tight budget and 75% of my income goes to pay the rent! I volunteer a bit and I get some expense coverage it helps a bit! Eventually I will be able to afford to be a vegan. I am much healthier being a vegetarian than I was a meat eater!
I know a proper vegan diet will probably make me even healthier than a vegetarian even though vegetarians with proper diets are really healthy!

Being healthier and slimmer would be a start, as for the flora and fauna, we're way down the road on those ones. We really have to go back to the caves and the beaches if we want to save the planet. Take for example the supposedly wonderful advances in science that may give us a vaccine for malaria. They wouldn't need a vaccine if they weren't living in cities and lowlands. Sorry I digress. As much as I subscribe to veganism it doesn't seem entirely possible in some corners of the world where mankind has spread and some nutrients are a recurrent problem such as Vitamin B12. I guess spreading the word amongst the unconverted and in the face of the hecklers is an honourable occupation. There are many advocates for veganism amongst the alternative doctors that are ignored by the establishment.

Better place how? If your idea of a better place is one where animals are never treated badly, then yes, it would be (although the point remains there would be very few animals around to be treated badly if PETA got their way).
In my opinion the world would be a far better place only when people start acting better to each other. I'd like to see how changing diet would do that.

If everyone became vegan, it would have a devasting effect on the economy. Smoking is bad for anyone but yet people still smoke for the same reason.
The truth.
Vegan may be better for a person, animal friendly, earth friendly and all other kinds of things. I agree.
But, multi million dollars corp. will always win.
BTW, most people hate veggies. They think they taste nasty.

Sadly, with humans, it's hard to accomplish most things sensible and right. Judging from the ignorant and uncompassionate answers from the whole lot of meaters here, I'd say there's still a long way to go.

Sorry H. I have to admit I do like the areas of yahoo! answers that are either car related or contentious - I'm not stalking you.
I reckon (and I don't doubt that you'll disagree with me) that it's important you recognise your own absursidy (and that means me too).
In short, I'd like you to try and appreciate how utterly impossible it would be for you to talk vegan on the internet without dead animals.
Go on, power up, hit a key....
As for cruelty free, every amp hour you use, every vegetable you eat, every mile you travel and every bath you draw affects the habitat and biodiversity of the planet.
You may tread softly, but tread you do.
By the way, can you get cloth seats in an Aston?

Aw, what a sweet and thoughtful thing to say. I agree with you 100%. Crossing from vegetarian to vegan isn't hard once you make the plunge. I'd love to see more people give it a try and discover that for themselves. I thought it would be so difficult but I'm learning about new products and and alternatives every day that make the vegan diet not only bearable but PLEASURABLE. It's the smartest thing I've ever done.
I am currently watching EARTHLINGS on YouTube (please go watch it!). If more people just knew the truth about how horrifically animals are exploited and how incredibly unhealthy eating animal products are AND how everything really DOES indicate we just weren't meant to consume animal products then maybe things could be different and there would be more of us. But the meat and dairy industries are awfully powerful and you've got a lot of people who have spent a lifetime as meat-eaters (and dairy and egg-eaters!) and people have a tough time with change. Give it a few more generations and I think we're going to see big changes. I absolutely can envision a future in which we finally free ourselves from this dependance on animals.

Hey, guys, I am trying. And I agree. But I'd feel a whole lot better if I stopped getting grief for "only being a vegetarian" or "if you're not vegan, you're not vegetarian."
That's just what others love to hear is sub-groups with in-fighting. And if you feel compelled to do so, be a little for discrete. It's hard to effect change with an "all or none" attitude.
