Ok, so im 18, and i have a 12 week old son, as most people know, you go threw ALOT of testing when your pregnant, which includes every known STD check (if requested, which i did) well, i came back 100% clean. Right before my son was born, i noticed this bump on my husbands shaft. it scabbed over after a while, but i wouldnt have sex with him while it was there, and he said it hurt anyways. Well, last week, i noticed a skin colored bump on my labia (?) and it really hurt. and i freaked out, because my OB/GYN said to come in right away, because it sounded like genital warts. Well, i didnt have any money to go in, so i couldnt. It did go away, eventually doing the same thing my husbands did. But it freaked me out because my STD check came back clean. If my son is 12wks old, and he had the bump about 4 months ago, and we had been dating about 8 mths then, could he have gotten it from a previous relation, or could he have cheated on me in the "6 wk no go" period???

HPV (the virus that causes genital warts) is VERY common. It's estimated about 75 - 80% of the WORLD will have it at some point in their life. For most people HPV is pretty harmless though. The main concern with HPV is the cervical cancer it can cause for women. With yearly pap smears though, doctors and tests can detect any abnormal changes on the cervix which can lead to cervical cancer. That is why pap smears are SO important.

HPV can become dormant in a lot of people. When it does this, it won't show up on a pap smear. This is probably why your STD tests came back all clear. It's also possible that you hadn't contracted the virus yet and that's why your tests came back clear.

Your husband probably had the virus the whole time and just didn't know. Since there really are no signs or symptoms of HPV, most people don't realize they have it and end up spreading it to others unknowingly. And, there is no test for men to detect HPV so it's basically impossible for them to know unless they develop warts themselves. Also, it can take several months and even years for genital warts to show up. I have personally had HPV for 6+ years now, and I didn't develop genital warts from it till about a year ago. It took me 5 years to develop warts from my HPV. If I hadn't been diagnosed with it years before I would have never knew I even had the virus until the warts showed up. So, your husband probably contracted the virus from a previous partner and didn't realize it.

I really wouldn't worry too much if I were you. It's always a possibility that he cheated, but it's more likely he has had HPV for a while and never knew.

Good luck to you and congrats on the new baby!

Well it is very possible that he could have cheated and from the way it sounds it just might be an std but i dont know about genital warts cause there not typically painful and scab over they are usually cauliflowerd in apperance and come in clusters........This could possibly be some kind of folliculits that just so happened to simultaneously happen back to back.

If the bump you had came up popped scabbed over and was painful its very possible that you might have genital herpes but go to a doc and find out for sure. Best of luck and wishes to you

Actually, most std's lay dormant for a long period of time.....with no symptoms. So yes, he could have gotten it from a previous relationship and just not gotten any symptoms until now. If Genital Warts is like Herpes, then you can get it from him even when he is not having a breakout BUT it's MUCH more risky when he has open sores. I think you guys should go together and get tested....clear the air and give yourself some peace of mind.

The ? should be that U have seen a doctor and u want to know what this problems is as U or the doctor has no clues. Have u tried Hydrogen Peroixde? And it is not a Mircle cure, it takes up to a day to work. Try washing it with soap and warm water, the use the HP at least 4 times to clease the area, and by the next day it should be fine, if not, Time to go see the doctor, as your only 13, and u sure do not want it to rot off. Have a great week !

There is NO way for ANYONE here to tell you if you have an STD or not...the ONLY thing you can do and I suggest both of you do is get tested. Make sure you explain to the dr. everything you just told us. BOTH of you need to be tested. BE SAFE rather than sorry. Knowledge is the KEY.
Best of luck to you and the new baby!

Genital Warts are not lollipops, you should be careful when pregnant. Someone else already gave you a pretty good answer.

Bye

You can have gential warts for years with no symptoms before they break out visibly. It's not necessarily an indication that cheated on you at all. There's no way of knowing when he might have picked it up.
