Let you child plan it with you. Unless it's a family function do not dance with your child's friends and stay away as much as possible from the party.

actually listen to her suggestions. You dont have to agree with anything you dont want to but anything that you think you could stretch your rules for you should. Your baby is leaving for college so she'll be doing what she wants soon enough. it's better her be upfront now than go wild at college.
If she wants to drink there, tell her a few friends can spend the night and they can drink later when everyone leaves. If your totally against make some virgin drinks for them.
I'm sure she'll be appreciative of the party any way she gets it!
maybe take her to get her nails done and a new dress for it!

It all depends on your childs age. If its a elementary graduation .. a simple party wit there friends with a BBQ is fine.
High School graduation .. have them invite there friends .. make fruity non-alcoholic drinks .. let them play music .. maybe even a dj .. outside bbq.
College Graduation .. BEER LIQUIOR BEER PONG .. that is the only way to do it.

graduation is a time when we think the world is our oyster--- have the kids dress up in a "what I want to be when I grow up" theme. They'll get as creative as they feel is cool enough besides- who doesn't like a costume party?

my mom & dad did a huge italian dinner for me and my closest friends - about 12 people - it was more intimate than the big parties - we drank alchohol but were dropped off at another party (there seemed to be one every weekend )later that evening also some of my closest friends had girlfriends and they came as well - I am 35 and still remember it

Learn how to spell first. Seriously though, have her get some of her favorite CDs together and perhaps you can turn the garage into a dance floor. Put a popular movie on the TV. Make some great snacks and interesting drinks. Stay as invisible as you can.

ask your kid what they think you should do and let them help you plan it. you could do a tiki theme, all that stuff is very easy to find in the summer time.
