I've been under a lot of stress lately (work issues, planning a wedding, buying a house, etc.) and last night when I was out walking my dog something weird happened to my heart. It felt the same as it does when it changes it's rythm but it did it three times in a row. My chest hurt, I got dizzy and it was hard to catch my breath for a few seconds. I was fine as soon as it stopped, a little shaken up but physically I felt fine.

Is this from the stress? I've had it happen before when I've been pretty stressed but never three times in a row like that. Is it something I should talk to a doctor about?

For the record, I'm a 23 year old female, eat well, exercise often, I suffer from seasonal allergies (they're pretty bad) and asthma.

Thanks in advance!

Go see your doctor. You might have had a heart attack.

I was 28 when I had mine. Like you I was under a lot of stress at work, I ate well, and ran at least four miles every day. My symptoms were different from yours. My pain just felt like sore muscles. It wasn't even in my chest, it was in my neck. I did sweat alot and had shortness of breath. Had a day off, and I felt fine. When I went back to work I had pain down my left arm. Went to the ER and found out I had a blood clot in the main artery to the heart, blocking 99% of it.

Please see your doctor before it is too late.

It could be a panic attack. I have suffered from these for years...I get heart palpitations, dizzy, sweaty, and just a general feeling like I'm about to freak out. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a mild sedative to help you through this stressful time. I take Xanax when I start to feel goofy. Also, I would definitely report these symptoms to you doctor. My husband had a heart attack at age 35, luckily he survived, but he ignored the warning signs...tingling in arm, shortness of breath, easily fatigued. Good luck.

Stress can send many people to the emergency room with what appears to be a heart attack. No one should tell you to make your own determination, though. Call the doctor.

sometimes age doesn't mean a thing...see your MD...it could be from stress but then again it could be something the MDs call PVC I think....I had it twice and my sister gets them a lot.....I have to grab something to make myself feel like "I;'m coming back to life"...like head rush and tunnel vision...it is scary....my dc said my ekg was ok and to keep an eye on how often this happens and if its stress induced too...my sister is on meds...she is older and did one of those heart monitor things you have to wear for 24 hours so it checks out what your heart is doing...thing is though is that you may not have one for another month and not havea monitor on....but just make an appointment with your primary care and if you don't feel satisfied with his/her answer ...see a cardiologist...better safe than sorry....good luck

Go see your doctor and do not let anyone tell you that you are too young for cardiac problems. You need to have an EKG to help rule out certain things. If you do not need a referral go see a cardiologist.

I wonder if you have Mitral Valve Prolaps? I have it and was diagnosed when I was 18. It is very common in women in their early 20's.

It doesn't bother me much. Other than the occasional flutter in my heart, I do need to take antibiotics when I go to the dentist or have a surgery.

Yes, please go to the doctor, you need to have a stress test performed. Your heart is indeed changing rhythms. I worked in the hospital with EKGs. You need to know what is going on now, don't sit on this. Don't want to scare you but your heart changes are nothing to wait around on.

You might not be getting enough sex in your diet so your heart isn't accustomed to highly charged situations.
