I tried these vegetables that look kinda like beats... they are red and soft when you boil them and taste like corn... very delicious. Anyone know the name of it?

No they aren't radishes... those are white on the inside and they're crunchy and taste like a mild onion. lol

What you are describing IS a beet. We just call them red beet around here. I've eat them sometimes. They tend to have a slightly sweet taste just as corn. The red color of the beet is very prominent are even used to make food coloring.

Sounds like red turnip to me.. get some red turnip seeds from www.rareseeds.com and grow them and see if you
get what you have! If I remember correct red turnip seeds are called Chinese turnips! The only other thing I get think of that is deep red like beets is red tulip bulbs and they are edible and they do taste sorta like corn! These tulip bulbs also staff off the flu!

Beets come in several colors now from almost white, yellow, pink, orange/red. My guess is that you had one of those varieties. A stall at a farmer's market I visit in summer carries them.

There's nothing quite like a beet, so I'm thinking you may have just had a variation of beets (maybe a smaller, sweeter beet).
