When I am at school everyone around me is a vegetarian. I want to become one because I don't want to feel like an outsider. It seems RUDE eating meat around them; and I am really trying hard to change. At my home everyone eats meat everything has some type of meat product in it; so that means I wont be eating. Am I being shallow? Any suggestions or comments will be highly appreciated =D
P.S. I cant eat eggs due to an allergy

Being a vegetarian is a good thing.Do you consider yourself an animal lover?Do you think this is okay?

It isn't rude to eat meat around your vegetarian friends. It is their choice to not eat meat and it is your choice to eat meat. Don't change yourself because you want to fit in. That kind of thing never works and it makes you feel horrible about yourself. Maybe you can ask them to help you find something they really enjoy that is vegetarian... I made all my friends sweet and sour tofu and they really enjoyed it and now whenever i have them over, i make them vegan food. Make sure your friends know that you respect their beliefs(being a vegetarian) and they should respect your beliefs. A good friend will understand that you have differing beliefs/morals and accept you even if you do eat meat and animal products.

Becomming vegetarian to fit into the group is the wrong reason, infact it is the wrong reason for any choice. If you don't want to eat meat because of your own personal reason than that is fine.

Many of us vegetarians live at home or did at once, and had family that ate meat. You need to do some major research in order to find out how to eat a proper vegetarian diet. You need to replace the protien you will no longer be getting from meat with whole grains, beans, nuts, vegetables, etc.

Search the internet for recipes, there are great ones out there. A lot of them are fairly quick and easy and can be prepared on your own.

Talk with your parents, many people find that family is not as opposed to the idea once they are secure in the fact that their child knows how to eat healthy. You may always run into objections by family, but ignore it and do what it is you beleive is right.

It is wrong of your friends to pressure you in any way to assume their values. At the same time, you should realize that the smell/sight of meat can be very nauseating to a vegetarian (that really depends on the person).

If you are concerned about eating at home, express interest in helping with the shopping/ cooking. This way you will have control and will be able to ensure you will have food to eat. DON'T try to seem extreme or make a big deal about it to meat eaters (try not to say anything at all). They will just pressure you to eat meat.

Hey it shouldn't matter what others eat or don't eat, I may be a vegetarian but I wouldn't be insulted if you ate meat around me as long as you don't say anything rude, so if they are like that tell them to **** off hehe. If you decided to be a vegetarian do it for yourself not for what others think.

You should be a vegetarian only if you want to, not just to fit in with a fad of some crowd of kids.

As you bit into a chicken leg and they tell you it's RUDE to eat it in front of them, reply that ciriticizing one's food is often also considered RUDE. ie; They are no better than you.

Just avoid it while at school, if you want to. Or eat in a different cafeteria (if at college) or sit with othe rpeople.

Eat what you want, vegetarians, and people like them think they have the right to force you to feel bad about yourself, and the only way that can happen is if you allow it.EAT MEAT

you may think it is rude... but they have to respect that you do eat meat, or you can just cut down ur meat intake while around them ... you shouldn't give it up because they don't eat it ... exspecially if you do like it

Just eat what you like. Meat is good for you, but too much of anythinng can be bad. This reminds me of a contest where you had to drink a lot of water for a wii, and the lady died from too much water. Just eat what YOU want and forget what the rest says, that what I do.
