At Walgreen's they have those chairs with a blood pressure machine in it.
Go there and get your pressure taken and then you will know what it is.

WalMart's pharmacies usually also have a blood pressure monitor. Or you can buy a digital monitor. They are not too expensive and are fairly reliable.
Normal blood pressure is 120/80 and below.
Borderline hypertensive is 121/81 to 139/89.
Hypertensive is 140/90 and above.
Keep in mind that your blood pressure is higher when you are stressed or have been physically exerting yourself. Simply talking will raise your blood pressure from it's resting values.
Ideally, you should take your blood pressure at different times during the day for several days in a row. Keep a chart. This will give you a good idea of what your normal blood pressure is.

In regards to low blood pressure, you don't have to worry unless to start having problems/symptoms. If you feel fine then no worries but if you are light-headed, dizzy, lack energy should have it check. Most places I worked only did a 5-day blood pressure check. Everdayday for 5 days, then follow-up with the doc,he will take the overall average and go from there (plus ask you if you have symptoms, eating a special diet, do you jog or exercise a lot? maybe get a blood sample).

Hi Paul,
The average BP Blood Pressure is 120/80. The most important one is the 2nd one, should it be too high or too low,
you should see a Dr. I have high BP and had to wear an adapter from the Cardiologist for 24 hrs. in order to get a true
reading and sleeping with it on my arm was no picnic going off every hour. Please don't interput when I say the "normal" as it can fluctuate up or down a tad as well that's o.k. Most pharmacies have them here in Canada free, to test yours.
Perhaps I gave you more info. than you wanted. Better save then sorry, better more then not enough, you can never have too much info when it comes to Life!

If you're in the US, go into any CVS. They have blood pressure machines at the back of the store by the pharmacy. You sit down, put your arm in a cuff & it takes your blood pressure as well as your heart rate. There's a range chart on the machine. All of this is free.
