I worked in mines, oilfields, drove trucks, pipe-lined,etc. and smoked for 52 years. Black Lung comes from working in coal mines. However, if you are wanting to know how long it takes to kill yourself by smoking the answer is simple...not long. The first puff you take may be the one responsible for the cancer you get or the C.O.P.D. that is to come. I quit smoking about 2 years ago because, I could no longer breath and smoke at the same time. I have C.O.P.D. and will die with it. I'm on oxygen 24/7 and can't walk across the room without breathing hard. No matter what I've done to myself by smoking, and I enjoyed smoking, I've probably cheated my children (10) and grandchildren (23) out of a few holidays with their grandfather.

you dont have to worry as long as you drink vit c regularly to cure the scar tissues left by nicotine on the walls of the lungs. this will reduce the risk of acquiring liver complications brought by smoking.

black lung deseace came from coal mining under ground many years ago man.as far as smoking.anywhere from today-until if it happens so best to stop.best of wishs

it is for years,let's say 20 years 10 cigarettes every day
