Recycling is to give a new use to something. Here are some interesting ideas to re use your old newspapers that I search on the net, and others that I actually use often:

1. Temporarily block the sun from streaming in windows.

2. Spread sheets of newspapers out and make clothing patterns

3. Dampen and spread over window glass to protect it when you paint.

4. Line and protect closet shelves and drawer bottoms

5. Place folded newspapers on the floor as a mat for wet shoes or muddy boots.

6. Make fire logs out of old newspapers. Roll sheets of newspapers up tightly in the shape of a log. Tie them tight with string and use them in your fireplace or on a camp fire.

7. Do you still have some old 45 or other type of vinyl records? Store them safely by placing old newspapers in between each one.

8. Ball up half sheets and let Kitty play with them. Cats love the crinkling noise.

9. Place balls of old newspapers inside leather shoes, purses, and in suitcases. They
help leather items keep their shape. They also help deodorize them.

10. Use old newspapers to polish windows to a streak-free shine. Also great for polishing chrome.

11. Your auto have a fluid leak? Place sheets underneath your car when it's parked in the garage to protect the floor.

12. If your auto's parked outside in the winter weather, lay old newspapers on the windshield so you don't have to clean off ice and snow in the morning.

13. Spread out sheets of newspaper between plants in your garden to keep weed growth down. Cheaper than black plastic!

14. Make mulch for your garden.

15. Bring green tomatoes in the house and wrap them in old newspapers. Place them in a dark, cool area, and they will ripen nicely.

16. Expecting a frost? Cover vulnerable garden plants with tents made out of newspapers.

17. Fold them over and kneel on them when you're working in the garden.

18. Transport fresh flowers in damp newspaper to keep them fresh longer.

19. Use it for doing craft projects like papier mache.

20. Pack delicate items. Wrap frames and figurines with several pieces of newspaper, then crumple the remaining sections to fill extra space in the box.

21. Preserve antique glass. Some older frames have finishes on the glass that can be damaged by cleaning solutions. Remove smudges by rubbing with newspaper dipped in a solution of one part white vinegar and one part warm water. Let air-dry.

22. Wrap gifts. Use the comics to wrap a child’s birthday gift.

23. Wipe away tough streaks on glass. Use newspaper with cleaning fluid to clean mirrors and windows.

I don't get the newspaper because I didn't like all the papers piled up before the recycling was picked up. It's so much more efficient to read the news online.

There is this woman at my school that collects paper and she recycles it for money. And I love helping people so I tell others to gather their old newspapers and give them to me. I give her the newspapers and she recycles them and she makes extra money. Her husband just had a heart surgery and she doesn't have enough money to pay for it.. and I actually feel good about helping her and recycling :)

Yes, I am really a good person :)

I use it to line the bottom of my birdcage. I have two parrots and they are very messy. The newspaper catches the poop and extra seeds and makes for an easy clean up.

We used to roll it real tight and use it for the wood furnace. It burns pretty good when rolled tight enough.

I also clean my windows with it.

Lay in 1" thick strips in garden and cover with dirt as a weed barrier in the fall/winter/spring. Then rototill it into the dirt when you go to plant the garden in mid spring.

If you happen to be a gardener, the newspaper with no color ink is good for mulch. It keeps the weeds down, preserves water and lasts for the one season before it deteriorates.

you could make a paper mache projects, you could donate it to day care centers, you could donate it to debate teams so they could use it for current events, you can use it to line a little box incase you dont want to buy litter box liners, you could use it for kenneling for outdoor fires to make smores or just out door fires or if you live in a colder state you could line your pants and shoes with it and it makes great insulation, good luck with all your newspapers :-)

Line your bird cage, use to start a fire by putting them under the logs, put on the floor for your puppy to go on while you are gone or to line their cages with, etc.
