CD case picture frame craft..
http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/trash.html
There are probably enough of these around to re-use as is for more cd's in these, too.Better yet,we could use wax cases and then re-use these as candles,or braces- wax(after sterilization,of course)....

unfortunately a lot of places and people are using the word "green" because it is catching people's attention, but they are not living a green life. to be truly green, i don't think that you can recycle a milk jug or two while driving around in a Hummer. however, at 14 you can start being green and set up habits that will last throughout your life. reduce your use of materials. if you need to buy something, is there a way that you can reuse it instead of just throwing it away. if you can't reuse the product or give it away you should recycle it. and to make recycling complete you should buy recycled products. other things that you can start to do would include buying organic products which are healthier for you and the environment by leaving out the use of drugs and pesticides, you can also start encouraging your parents to compost (reducing your trash), plant native plants, allow the grass in the yard to grow a little taller and mulch the grass clippings and leaves in the yard. lastly, become an activist and educate people about becoming green and the simply ways they can help the earth by doing everyday little things. start with your family and friends.

I saw this show on TV where they used old tires to build the outside walls of a house. I thought this was a great idea and am actually considering doing something similar when I build my own house.
Another thing our town does is use old tires on playgrounds. They either make some kind of play thing, or grind the tires up and put them down on the ground under swing sets and such.
Another thing I have used old tires for is flower pots. We have two tractor tires that we buried about 6 inches into the ground, filled with dirt and then planted some flowers in.
To water my plants outside that need constant water, take a two liter plastic bottle, drill a hole in the lid. Fill with water and place in the ground upside down. The water then will drip into the ground slowly through the hole in the lid. You might have to make a few very small holes in the bottom of the bottle so that air can get into the bottle and force the water out.
You can use milk jugs for this too, but I find the two liter bottles are sturdier.

I carry a book bag with me all the time... when im out and i go shopping if its not something bulky or too heavy i put it in my bag so I dont need to take a plastic bag from the store... if I get drink when im out (soda, juice etc..) I put the empty container in my bag so I can recycle it at home in case there is not place to recycle when im out... its a simple thing to do and I feel better at the end of the day knowing that I have made a difference

I reuse some of the enormous amounts of paper that my kids bring home from school as scratch paper for phone numbers, grocery lists, to-do lists, craft supplies, etc. If you have a small child, it's amazing how much *stuff* they send them home with. A lot of it is recyclable, but why recycle it and then have to buy scratch paper/note pads. Reuse it first, then recycle it :)
Junk mail envelopes and paper also works for this purpose.

1. I save water from the shower and use it to flush the toilet.
2. I save plastic containers and bottles, and reuse them. Some people cut them in half and use the necks as funnels.
3. I have cut off the top of a super-glue tube and used that to re-glue a hook to a flat surface (sealing the end of the hook in the narrow opening and gluing the circular part to the surface)
4. I save the plastic mail packaging for AOL or other disks, and re-use them for other CDs.
5. I save wire hangers to make sculptures or to use for other projects.
Note: My favorite project is taking popular rock tunes and "recycling" them into environmental songs about saving endangered species in the forest ecosystem. See lyrics posted http://www.houstonprogressive.org/songbook.html and sample recordings at http://www.houstonprogressive.net
Why let good music go to waste? Why not recycle them into positive messages about celebrating and saving the earth?

I reuse the plastic grocery bags that I get at the store, I always try to save them (unless they are ripped), they come in handy when I need something to take my lunch to work or when the kids need to transport clothes for an overnight stay (then just put all the dirty clothes in there to send home with them). There are all kinds of things that can be done with them, way too many for me to list here.

Hi. I really like the idea of recycling plastic into building materials. Lasts a long time and reduces the wood needed.

I reuse many things but water bottles are at the top of my list. It is also a very simple task and will save you money on a new one.

I never throw away old clothes. I cut them up into squares, sorting them into boxes of similar fabrics and make simple, but colorful quilts out of them. It's very simple to do and a fun hobby. I take most of the quilts I make and give as gifts, donate to the homeless shelter, and the ones that don't turn out well (I'm not that great at sewing.. HAHA), I donate to the local animal shelter for dog and cat bedding.
