actually, there is one. Herpes. If you get cold sores, or had the chicken pox as a child, then the virus (varicella) lives in your nerve pathways. If you get shingles, or a cold sore, and are not very careful about hygiene, you can transmit the virus to your genital area.

The "ST" stands for "sexually transmitted." A few STDs (like HIV and hepatitis) are also blood-borne diseases, so there is some risk of transmission by other means, but in most cases, no, you cannot get an STD by hand-shaking or counter tops.

yes, even though they are called sexually transmitted diseases, some can be transmitted without having sex. like genital warts, people who have warts on their hand can infect their genitals by masturbating, or they can give it to others by giving hand jobs, or fingering people, b/c regular warts and genital warts are the same virus. also you can get crabs from public restrooms, sharing bathing suits(eww). you can get herpes from kissing someone who has an outbreak.

well, no but i have a friend who caught crabs from being in the same bed as someone who has crabs, and they didn't have sex. but i wouldn't know really. could be under the term sexual i spose in a weird way.
