Bring all the water you'll need for cooking, drinking, washing dishes, and personal hygiene, or some containers and a water purifying device and a natural source of water (unless this site has pump/well water that's certified as potable). (I go through about two 1.5 liter bottles of water a day on the trail for drinking, cooking, dish cleaning, and a little washing up and brushing of teeth.)
If you're pooping in a hole, you'll need a little garden trowel or camping shovel for digging those holes. Don't forget some toilet paper and paper towels, and some hand sanitizer is good. Most backcountry intestinal illness comes from your own or fellow campers' personal waste contaminants.
Broad-brimmed hats and large bandanas are good. Bandanas are useful as head/neck shades and towels. On a hot day, a wet bandana draped around the neck can be a godsend, and they can be used as slings/wraps for first aid.
I almost never go backpacking/camping in the summer without a lightweight fleece jacket. Summer nights and mornings can be cool, and it can double as a layer for sleeping in if it's especially cool. If not, it makes a decent pillow for sleeping or a cushion for sitting on. So bring one if you have it, or maybe a fleece throw blanket if you have one of those.
A first aid kit is a good idea.
There are so many things to consider, and they depend on how and where you camp. Try doing a search on something like "camping list" - there are tons of resources out there to cover everything from camping out of the back of your car to ultralight wilderness camping.
Good luck and have fun.

You may want a table and chair, folding types .Get a sleeping mat. Forget the pillow, use the stuff bag for you sleeping bag and put some clothes in it. Some sort of grill if you are cooking on an open fire. Propane lantern. Propane stove. makes cooking easier. Boots and sneakers. Depending on where you are going, you may need to secure your food from animals. tarp for shelter over your cooking area. RAIN GEAR, once you get wet things never dry. First aid kit.
Plenty of water, to cook with and drink. Never drink from a stream unless you purify it first. Knife, rope, duct tape, wire ties. You never know when these will come in handy. As for food, Burgers and dogs are great. You want to do the least amount of cleaning as possible. Oatmeal for breakfast only need hot water. You can also buy food bags that you can prepare the food beforehand (fully cooked) ie pasta and sauce put it in the bag and stick in boiling water. No clean up and its a real meal.

You should make a detailed list of what you and your fellow campers will want to take then check it off as you load it. Don't forget a good first aid kit, and lots of water, bug spray, and canned food like beans, treat, tuna, things that do not have to be kept cold.

Of course something to cook on and in, biodegradable toilet paper, trash bags and get some Dr.Bronner's soap. It is all natural and biodegradable. You can use it for everyting from washing dishes to bathing in the stream to shaving, and it is a bug repellant. Ifyou can get one of those pie irons (that is what we always called them) that you can make all kinds of sandwiches and foods in. It is 2 pieces that hook closed and go right on/over a fire for 'pizza', breakfast foods, sandwiches, etc. They are available at WalMart and camping supply stores, etc.. Just remember to take out what you bring in!

Don't forget a deck of cards, sunscreen, bandana for your hair, and I find that bagels and cream cheese is the easiest camping food in the morning. Oh and coffee

Remember to bring a lot of rope for many reasons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY 1) to hang your excess food up in a tree out of reach of animals LIKE BEARS and it keeps them out of your campsite.
2) also you might be able to make a clothesline to dry your wet clothes. Keep warm with dry clothes.
3) Use it to string up your tarp roof overhead.
ALSO - bring a bucket to wash your dishes.

You will need rain gear, cool clothes, warm jacket, towels, .. Nights get chilly.. and water. And more important, you will need some one to take with you. Share the wonderful world of camping.
I love it.
