depends on your water source.
Boiling will kill living organisms...and will take some suspended solids out (maybe minerals...maybe chemicals...you've seen the white sediment left behind after boiling water)
Fresh water from natural sources tastes good and often contains good minerals
Boiling water doesn't taste as good...but can remove some harmful ingredients
the short answer... probably a good idea to boil.

In most case's tap water is just fine, unless a warning has been issued to boil it.
If you do decide to boil your water, it will taste flat because you drove out the oxygen. To regain the fresh taste to the boiled water pour it between two clean containers. This will churn the water and reintroduce oxygen into the water. This is an old military trick we used when we had time to boil water.
As far as using Clorox bleach or any other chemical disinfectant, use those methods sparingly, as they can be harmful with continued use.

that depends on were you live... I personally don't boil the water I live in FL, now if there has been some construction or a broken pipe, after a big storm where power has been shut down, I do boil it first and then let it cool in order to use it also you can use a couple drops of Clorox ( 2 - 3 ) drops only per gallon to make it safer. then again only on extreme & special circumstances I do that. Besides that I drink it form the tap.

Tap water is usually just as good as any other water besides dirty well water. If you do boil the water though then you could be destroying things like minerals and other things in the water. It also depends on where you live sometimes too.

If the tap water you get from your county has earned good points for potability, then I guess you can drink it, but sometimes the taste is kind of strange. Boiled water is safer, but the taste is kind of bland, better drink it chilled.

If you live in a log cabin and get your water from a lake, YES, please boil it.
If there is a boil warning in your town, YES, please boil.
If you live in a normal US town, just buy bottled water and drink it. Oxygenated water tastes the best, which usually is what comes out of your tap, if you have a good faucet.

Drink it. There is no reason to boil it unless you are told to because of some kind of emergency.

If your water is nasty tasting (Mine was so gross I couldn;t drink it while pregnant) you can always get one of the filters that hooks right onto the faucet. We use the PUR filter and we make our ice with it too.
