First start small....pick up trash around the outside of your house, plant flowers, trees, and make sure there are no glass objects in the road area near you. Next you can ask your school principle if you can start a committee around school that will do different environmental activities, like improve the school landscape, or help pick up trash. Basically as a 13 year older your possibilities are unlimited, start off small then thing large scale. Good Luck !

Oh, there are lot of things that a 13 year old can do. And you can campaign to older people in your family or community as well.
1. Turn off the light or any other electrical appliances when not using them.
2. Use a cup while brushing your teeth and turn off water when not using it.
3. Recyle as much as you can.
4. Use everything to its best.
5. Help keep the house clean, less time and energy to clean up later.
6. Use real plates instead of paper plates.
7. Bring your own bag when go shopping for items that you could carry in tote bags to cut down the usage of paper or plastic bags.
8. In colder climate wear extra sweat shirt instead of raising the heat. Or do anything to keep yourself warm and do not go extreme.
9. Use public transportation when possible.
10. Walk or bike if point A and point B is reasonable and safe.
11. Use rechargeable batteries.
12. By now I'm sure you get the idea. I believe you'll come up with something creative to help save the environment. Thank you for being so thoughtful :)
13. And, yes, plant as many trees as you can.

The most important thing you can do to help the environment is to understand what is the biggest threat to the environment. Big government is and always has been the biggest waster and destroyer of the environment. Privatization of all public lands will give an economic incentive to keep it clean and productive. Do not listen to the sensation mongers who say that there are such things as "global warming". It is a myth and there are virtually NO honest scientific studies that confirm that there is any such phenomenon. Political opportunists use junk science to scare people like us into thinking that we are in peril from a number of different bogey monsters and if we elect them, they will save us. This is so apparent that all you have to do is look to see it. Prosperity and economic feedom are what produce clean environments, not cheesy politicians who stand to make millions off of their silly environmental agendas. Don't be a litterbug. Learn about the US Constitution and study economics. Adam Smith is one that you can google to learn basic economic truths. Plant a garden and a tree, those are good things to do!

We used to do paper drives, go door to door and collect newspapers, and recycle them instead of people throwing them away, and we got paid. Picking up litter, is a huge way to help our environment, as people throw things everywhere including cigarette butts, I just hate that.Volunteer to help in improving the park grounds, maybe school grounds, beaches, or maybe just helping a senior citizen, who has a lot of stuff they want to get rid of. Plant trees, or start a garden, and grow vegetables organically. Do research on what factories, or big company's that are polluting our environment, and what do we do to stop them from doing this. . Educate yourself on what it will take to better our environment, and maybe set up a club of your friends or interested people in ways you can make a positive change for our environment.
Lights out earlier, turn off your monitor when not using it, read during daylight hours to save light, make a plan to learn more about saving energy and educate yourself to the point you can afford the more environmentally friendly products.

A 13 year old kid can conserve by not wasting anything - take only the food you are going to eat, don't let the water run when not actually using it, turn off lights, give unwanted stuff to charity instead of throwing it in the garbage, travel by bicycle whenever and wherever possible, use rechargeable instead of throwaway batteries in your personal electronic appliances, spend your spare time collecting aluminum cans in your area for recycling, close the refrigerator door when not actually reaching in to take out or put away something. Keep showers short, flush toilets carefully, only once, and don't play with water hoses. For more ideas, contact local environmental protection groups.

You're are already taking a step in the right direction. Congratulations and Thank You!
The suggestions that everyone else has given you are very good. Start small and work your way up. Try to convince your friends to help out also. One thing you and your friends can do is pick up litter (encourage them by telling them that they can get money for the aluminum cans - but pick up all of the litter).
You can also use a reusable bottle instead of buying bottles of water or soft drinks. Do not use Styrofoam cups! If you do use bottles please recycle them.
Ride your bike, skateboard, po-go stick (anything besides taking a car) as much as you can.
Buy your clothes from garage sales, second hand stores or charity stores.
Buy recycled paper for your note books and recycled pencils. Try to buy recycled products as much as possible.
Have fun and encourage your friends! And again, Thanks.

Be responsible with how you use your resources, and educate your peers about the environment. You are the next generation, it will be up to you to protect our world, so get a head start and make sure everyone knows to respect the earth. We need to stop global warming before it gets worse, and you asked a really great question. More people should be concerned about the environment.

nameless Poster with the Madonna/newborn avatar, i'm Aussie, and you have been stated. i don't know the place you're from, however the claims you're making approximately us are disgusting, pejorative, and with none foundation different than hate. Now, my answer. inspect Andrew Bolt, usher in solar 28 would. He enormously lots sums it up. i'm no prude, yet Cate Blanchett's is a reasonably common answer from the paintings international: superb as long as that's not my babies. i think of PM Rudd is going overboard too. The photographs are actually not profane, yet they are around the line.
