I don't have the exact answer you are looking for because I'm an adult that takes the medications. However stay away from Prozac which is a dangerous med for all ages and find a good doctor that stays up to date. There has been a lot of new drugs on the market the last few years. Rarely do you find the right one the first time, so its nice to have a doctor which will give you many options.

Usually once you get a prescription slip from a doctor/psychiatrist, it only takes a day or two for the pharmacy to get the prescription filled. You can start taking it as soon as you pick it up from the pharmacy. Keep in mind, most antidepressants take about 4 - 6 weeks to really work. Your body needs time to adjust to the medicine. You won't be happy instantly, they don't work like that. Make sure your psychiatrist puts you on the right kind of antidepressant. Good luck love :) -I've only taken 10mg before. I'm really petite so I don't need a high dosage. -No I don't have a cartilage piercing -I have hazel eyes -I'm way too skinny haha

There really isn't one solid answer for you. With antidepressants, it's all trial and error. Each drug has different effects for everyone. You'll most likely have to try a few different ones before you find the one that's right for you. I'm 20 now, I've been on antidepressants since I was around 15 or 16, I started with Paxil, then Prozac, then Effexor XR for a week but that had horrible side effects for me, and now I'm on Zoloft which seems to be the best I've tried so far. Make sure to discuss your concerns with your doctor, and also speak to a pharmacist. A pharmacist will be able to give you a lot of information about different drugs and what they have seen that seems to be effective. Good luck!
