Why kill her? I can give you lots of reasons. She stood in the way. She was a loud annoying voice. She persauded people to do what was right. She stood up to big corporations. She stood up to the gangsters who actually run the big corporations. She was a small person in a world which doesn't care.

Should any of those matter? No. Should she have been killed? Of course not. The fact of the matter remains that she was - and those were the reasons why.

I've spent some time thinking carefully about this answer, I have tried to look at the situation from several angles.

Chances are that her protests were stopping some people from being able to cut down some trees, these people need the money that cutting these trees would bring them and without it their wives and children would starve.
Even though killing someone is wrong and destroying the planet is possibly even worse it is hard to maintain one's morals after going home night after night to watch you family slowly starving to death.
I'm very sad about the death of this fine woman and applaud her position and ideals, but I can see that often necessity is a cruel mistress and that sometimes people do what they think they must for the sake of those they care about even if it harms many other people.
The world can be a terrible place and for people in some situations there is no good choice and the lesser of two evils can be very subjective.

The whole of the western world has only one interest - that's money and oil. Killing someone who gets in the way is par for the course.

"Love of money is the root of all evil."
She was trying to prevent powerful (and apparently violent) people from making money. Of course, the question needs to be asked, "Where will those leeches go when all of the trees are gone?"

I think that unfortunately, there are those who would sell their own mothers for money. They think just on their interests and do not mind for the others and for the future of our planet.
That's a horrible story and thank you for asking the question.

If cutting down those trees is the only source of income those people have and she's trying to get in the way yeah I think they're right to kill her.

a single tree can be worth 150,000 US $ and can make poor people very rich, when someone comes along to tell you to stay poor you can loose all reason and greed results in murder.
